| Dear Fellow Nations of the Judicial Republic of Tiberiam,
Your two Chancellors, Gracealona and myself, have gone to the Pacific regions to recruit. These efforts have been very successful, as we have now grown from about fifteen nations at the beginning of my term, to twenty-six nations currently. In essence, in the last two months, our region size has steadily increased by over two-thirds!
While such growth has been good for this region, there are foreseeable dangers to such growth. True, the only person who holds Banning and Ejection power in the region is the Founder, however there is still the potential for threats to our region.
As a result, I have been working on a bill for the security of our region, one of the provisions of the bill would be the creation of an intelligence agency, as well through another bill, creating a foreign relations department to maintain alliances and embassies in the inter-regional community and to commemmorate our growth.
However, I am unsure of your opinions on what I have stated above and have created a poll to assess the general feeling of our region toward entering into inter-regional politics before I introduce this bill.
Thank You, The Romulan Federation Second Chancellor of the Judicial Republic of Tiberiam

| Tiberiam is its own universe. Interregional politics would undermine this. | |

| Well how can you expect that our region grow to great heights if its shut out from all other regions on a diplomatic basis?
Have you heard of a large, stable region, being that its at least fifty nations, being able to maintain its population that didn't have any foreign embassies or ambassadors whatsoever?
Third, how does an involvement in inter-regional politics undermine us as a region?
I assume that you mean in its socio-political sovereignty, in which case it would be incorrect, I don't think that just engaging in relationships with other regions subjugates our independence in our internal policies.
There's a difference between isolationism (similar to that of Imperial Japan prior to 1850) and non-interventionism in foreign policy, and I believe in the latter but not the former -- that as a region we should build and maintain friendships with other regions but in any sort of conflict such as a regional war we should abstain from involvement with out justness.

| I enjoy our being our own place. Getting involved in the international community means incompatant nations joining us, more complicated RPing and organization, and eventually raids. Although it would be impossible to take over the region and eject people the way we are set up, it would still be possible to hijack the chancellor positions and such.
Honestly Rom, I don't know why you are so intrested in becoming a region with a large number of nations. Although it raises activity it makes managing the region much more complicated. I think there is nothing wrong with being a smaller region, I'm just fine withn our current international set up.

| So when we reach "x" number of nations we should just stay where we are?
Where would that be for you Grace?

| No that's not what I'm saying. I'm saying that we shouldn't be concerned about growing exponentially, we should just do our thing here and grow at a slow rate and not focus on growing into a large region fast. That way as the trickle in slowly we can slowly adapt to them instead of a flood we can't handle. | |

And that's what I agree with, but don't you think that in order to do so we need to establish a foreign affairs bureau to form relations with other regions for our prosperity? And in addition, shouldn't an intelligence agency be created to monitor, investigate and examine immigrating nations and conspicious, noteworthy or even dangerous regions?

| I agree with Grace and Edo. Growth is not our priority. Involving other regions just complicates things. It has no benefit. Besides, no region will bother us if we don't bother them. | |

| Agreed Ruz.
And I think that the intelligence agency is definitley overkill. I've gotten plenty of nations telegramming me wanting to unify but all of them want us to become a part of their region and them be in charge of us. Our current recruitment efforts have yielded a decent amount of sucess, as much as is to be expected anyway. I have kind of taken a break from recruiting since our last spike so that all could get settled in but I think it may be time to go back. I mean we doubled our population in about 3 days without any emabassys or intel, isn't that sufficent? We were gaining nations without becoming secondary to another region.

Just because we are getting involved in inter-regional affairs simply means that. By interacting with the governments of another region, we are not subjugating our political sovereignty to that region. Although personally I support non-interventionism, I also detest isolationism as well. The fact is we can't grow as much if we're socially and politically shut off from the rest of the NationStates community -- to my knowledge, before 1850 Imperial Japan was economically-inferior as well as being politically-primitive to the rest of the world because of its isolationist policies. - Gracealona wrote:

That way as the trickle in slowly we can slowly adapt to them instead of a flood we can't handle. Well suppose that we experience a huge flood of immigration? Couldn't we establish an intelligence agency to monitor, examine and investigate immigrating nations and their respective prior regions as well as a foreign relations department to mediate our inter-regional affairs? Couldn't we place regulatory measures on immigration to prevent possible threats? Either way, it seems that creation of a foreign relations department and an intelligence agency is generally opposed to by our nations from the latest poll results, I think that while I still favor it, we can agree on re-visiting it in the future when we're a bit larger around forty or fifty nations.
