Resource Contracts

Gems
  • Diamonds
    • Price: $8.50/cd Standard ($0.50/cd Dust, $1.00/cd Bort, $45.00/cd High Quality, $150/cd Jewel Quality)
    • Total Production: 1,500 kg/yr (7.5 million cd)
    • Contracts: 1 year, 2 year, 5 year
    • Description: Besides being used for jewelry, Diamonds are also an integral industrial component for many products. Industrial diamonds are used for things such as laser devices, drill bits, ultra sharp and incredibly durable blades, and a multitude of other uses implementing the durability and hardness of diamonds. Diamond dust is also used for a variety of purposes such as non-commercial, high quality, industrial strength sandpaper or other abrasive surfaces.

  • Beryl
    • Price: $20.00/cd Standard ($50.00/cd Emerald)
    • Total Production: 3,000 kg/yr (15.0 million cd)
    • Contracts: 1 year, 2 year
    • Description: Beryl is a mineral that is unusual in that it's value increases with higher levels of impurities, with Emeralds being Beryl stones containing trace amounts of Chromium or Vanadium. Beryl is also a source for Beryllium, a rare element that is nonetheless incredibly useful for defense and aeronautics due to it's lightweight combined with it's stiffness and stability. Beryllium is used in everything from aircraft to missiles to spaceships to satellites.

  • Corundum
    • Price: $25/kg Standard ($150/kg Ruby, Sapphire)
    • Total Production: 50 t/yr (50,000 kg)
    • Contracts: 2 year, 5 year, 10 year
    • Description: Corundum is an incredibly hard mineral that can scratch almost any other mineral, making it desirable as an abrasive for things like commercial sandpaper and large machines used in the machining of plastics, metals and woods. Red and blue Corundum minerals are called Rubies and Sapphires, respectively. Corundum is also a source of aluminum, which is used in a wide variety of applications such as aircraft, missiles, spacecraft, cars, tanks, electronics, pop cans, etc.
Metals
  • Gold Ore
    • Price: $5,000/kg Standard ($20,000/kg Pure)
    • Total Production: 40 t/yr (40,000 kg)
    • Contracts: 1 year, 2 year, 5 year, 10 year
    • Description: Gold is possibly the most valuable metal in existence, and has held this status throughout history. Despite being more abundant then cheaper Diamonds and other precious gems, Gold is always in very high demand because of it's wide range of industrial and commercial applications. It is a primary component of most coin currencies in the world, and is an important investment tool as it's value is considered immune to economic disruptions (it will always be valuable). It is also used in certain medicines, foods and drinks, industry, electronics and commercially important chemical reactions.
Agriculture
  • Wheat
    • Price: $250/t
    • Total Production: 20 million t/yr
    • Contracts: 1 year, 2 year, 5 year
    • Description: Wheat is a staple of most of the world's diet, made for a wide variety of foods, most notably bread. It is cheap and made in large quantities, making it ideal for purchase or distribution to poorer areas of the world in order to fight famines. Central Rasvidi is rich in fertile lands and is known for it's farming culture.

  • Beef (Yak)
    • Price: $5,000/t
    • Total Production: 8.1 million t/yr
    • Contracts: 1 year, 2 year, 5 year
    • Description: Yak is the source of beef consumption by the vast majority of Rasvidi's population. Yaks are a type of bovine especially suited to cold climates, and are valued for their meat, milk and fur.

  • Milk (Yak)
    • Price: $2,500/t
    • Total Production: 15.7 million t/yr
    • Contracts: 1 year, 2 year
    • Description: Yak's milk is rich and creamy, averaging about 6.7% fat. It is a staple amongst the population of Rasvidi.
Miscellaneous
  • Raw Silk
    • Price: $5.00/kg Standard
    • Total Production: 300 t/yr (300,000 kg)
    • Contracts: 1 year
    • Description: Silk is produced by silkworms when they form cocoons. It is a highly valuable fibre used in many textiles, such as clothes and upholstery, as well as parachutes, tires, gunpowder bags, and surgical sutures. The Rasvidi Islands are the exclusive source for silk in Rasvidi, and due to the unstable political nature of the Islands and the presence of nearby rivals, only 1 year contracts are offered.

  • Natural Rubber
    • Price: $3.50/kg Standard
    • Total Production: 500 t/yr (500,000 kg)
    • Contracts: 1 year
    • Description: Rubber is an important material, and is created from the sap of Rubber Trees. It is used for everything from tires to tubing to footwear. It is much more flexible then plastics, and through a unique physical property actually gains strength and durability as it stressed. However, prolonged stress can cause rubber to form 'cracks' which compromise it's integrity. Like Rasvidi's source of silk, rubber production for Rasvidi comes from the islands, and similarly only offers 1 year contracts for the same reasons.

Weapons/Military

Small Arms
  • DL-293 "Pralnikov" Automatic Rifle:
    • Price: $500 per unit
    • Description: With a rate of fire measuring in at 650 rounds per minute, a muzzle velocity of 900 m/s and an effective range of between 100 and 1,000 meters this automatic rifle is incredibly versatile and is the standard issue of the Rasvidi military. It is employed both by militia forces and sniper units, as the 1,000 m range (when equipped with appropriate sights) allows troops to kill their targets from a kilometer away. However, while reliable, it's durability is sub-par and some units can require frequent maintenance on the battlefield. Requires 5.45x39mm ammunition. Manufactured since 1967.

  • ZDL-293 "Zuntya" Automatic Rifle:
    • Price: $600 per unit
    • Description: The Zuntya is a modified, upgraded version of the Pralnikov. Boasting similar stats, it is much more reliable and durable and only needs infrequent maintenance, allowing it to be used more continuously on the battlefield without have to clean it. It also has increased accuracy due to a modified barrel design, and reduced recoil. Requires 5.45x39mm ammunition. Manufactured since 1983.

  • DB-K01 "Leniyo" Sub-Machine Gun:
    • Price: $250 per unit
    • Description: This sub-machine gun is designed for close-range firefights, such as those found in an urban warzone. It is also easy to conceal, making it a favourite of secret police and intelligence agents wishing to pack firepower discretely. More notoriously, it has in the past been employed by terrorists and activists in Rasvidi to cause massive civilian casualties, although this has decreased recently, with the last such incident occurring in 1992. Fires at 1,000 rounds/min, with a muzzle velocity of 310 m/s and an effective range of 25-50 meters. Uses 9x18mm ammunition. Manufactured since 1979.

  • DB-K91 "Klin" Sub-Machine Gun:
    • Price: $300 per unit
    • Description: A much improved version of the Leniyo. The rate of fire ranges between 975 to 1,060 rounds/min, while the muzzle velocity and effective range have been improved to 430 m/s and 25-150 m, respectively. Suffers from reduced reliability, however, and has been known to jam in the middle of a firefight. Uses 9x18mm ammunition. Manufactured since 1999.
Missiles
  • OTR-21 Tochka
    • Price: $50 million per unit
    • Description: The Tochka missile is a powerful short-range ballistics missile capable of carrying a variety of warheads, including 100 kT nuclear warheads. It is large, weighing 2,000 kg and being over 6 meters long. It uses a single-stage engine with a solid propellant, launching it to speeds of nearly 2 km/s which means it can reach it's target within one minute or less. It's operational range is 120 km, making it ideal for border conflicts or for launches from aircraft carriers along the coast. It is designed for use on mobile launch platforms.
Vehicles
  • T-72 Tank
    • Price: $2 million per unit
    • Description: The T-72 is based off of previous successful and popular designs used during the Revolutionary War. It was manufactured as a successor to the T-70 starting in 1957, finishing development in the late 60's. It is equipped with a 125 mm smooth-bore gun, with a 7.62 mm coax machine gun and 12.7 mm anti-aircraft machine gun as secondary armaments. It's armor is 500 mm (20 in) thick, composed of high hardness steel, tungsten, and plastic filler using ceramic components. It has a diesel engine capable of 780 hp, with a fuel capacity of 1,200 liters. It's operational range (before having to refuel) is 460 km, increased to 700 km with the use of oil drums, and it can reach top speeds of 70 km/h.

Updated, added more comprehensive descriptions of each item (which also explain what uses each item has, and why a nation would purchase them). Weapons are all available for one year contracts, older deals before this update have not been changed.

"...as well as parachutes, tires, gunpowder bags"

Why the hell would I use silk for army equipment? [Laughs heartily]
Tires? How would I make a tire out of silk? I believe most people use rubber for that.

You realize that those things I listed are made of a multitude of materials, right? Not just silk? That's true of most finished goods... Tires are made of rubber, yes, but they also have a layer of reinforced fibres under the rubber, to increase it's durability and strength and to prevent air from diffusing through the rubber and out of the tire. Without this layer, tires would not last very long at all, and if you got a flat then there would be no use pumping it full of air again.

Perhaps you should research these things before you scoff. Laughing at things you don't understand just makes you look stupid.

I had no idea there was silk in tires. Incredible. (I foolishly assumed it was a mis-arrangement. I associate tires with rubber, which was just below.)

And I laugh at things I don't understand because I am stupid. Razz

Out of sheer curiosity, I am tempted to lift the sanctions on Rasvidi just to try yak milk. That sounds surprisingly delicious.

Also, Rasvidi, I commend your use of the word, 'scoff.' (The word makes me happy.)
