Organization/New Rules? Empty
PostSubject: Organization/New Rules?   Organization/New Rules? EmptyThu Jun 09, 2011 12:01 am

One reason the roleplay is so mind numbingly slow, laborious and hard to keep track of is the horrible organization. We need strict guidelines on how to post, what to post for and what should constitute full roleplay threads. Here are my ideas:

Not every diplomatic action needs to have a pages-long, weeks-long roleplay around a table. Summits are basically just the dignitaries from each country chatting to eachother. This should be done in PM or in instant chat, so it doesn't take forever and break chronology of the roleplay. If this results in a treaty of some kind, then a completed treaty should be posted in the forums. This extends to things like trade agreements and the exchange of goods. A solid diplomatic roleplay not involving war would include something like international aid, exploring new territory, making territorial claims, outright annexations, public denouncements/sanctions, public support, etc. Basically, if it's just a simple communication or negotiation between governments, keep it in PM or instant chat and post the resulting agreements or treaties in the forums. If the communication is meant to be public, such as a public insult or denouncement of another government, then that justifies a new thread.

Wars are a strategic, tactical affair. These are the best candidates for international roleplay threads, as they usually take a long amount of time and a whole lot is at stake for each side fighting. Taking a couple of days to post is more acceptable, and speedier things can be done elsewhere (such as trade deals and breaking diplomatic ties) while each side waits for the next move. A new thread should be created for every war, independent from the diplomatic threads that spawned them. This way we aren't all sifting through threads to find out the ambiguous start point of a current or recently resolved war. Posts in wars should only include troop movements, battles, their outcomes, territory concessions and annexations, etc. and should not contain communications between each nation. This should go on behind-the-scenes, in PM or in instant chat, to add a level of reality to the threads. Perhaps logs of these chats could be posted somewhere for countries with sufficient technology to "decrypt".

Domestic events are more like news stories. They document the internal workings of your country, and only your country should be posting in them. If a country wishes to get involved, even just to condemn or show support, then it becomes an international event and a new thread needs to be created. This includes things like uprisings, technological developments, anecdotal news bites, political events, etc. The domestic events sub-forum should be seen as sort of a "global news" category updating everyone on the most recent happenings inside each nation. This includes things like food shortages during a war or the effects of a battle not recorded or relevant in the war thread.

Databases are there so we can understand the general personality and standing of your nation. It should include things like various economic aspects of your nation, it's politics, it's people, it's history, it's relations with other nations, etc. People look to your database especially to determine if they should war with you or not, as this is where you can record the size of your military. NSeconomy statistics shouldn't be your sole economic information; it's easy for us to just go to your nation's NSEcon page and do the math ourselves and saves you the work of daily statistics updates. Describe things like what your nation produces, which sectors of the economy employ the most, and what your different socio-economic classes are like. How poor is your lower class? How rich is your upper class?

Organization/New Rules? Empty
PostSubject: Re: Organization/New Rules?   Organization/New Rules? EmptyThu Jun 09, 2011 12:06 am

I humbly request that I temporarily (as in, for a few days) rehaul the rules governing roleplay and such so they are less messy, more clearly defined and make roleplay smoother then it has been. The original rules/guidelines that I created (and then were refined by Isis Rakael and Oscalantine) were never meant for long-term, substantial roleplay more as they were a rough draft. I'd like to revisit them.

I would also reorganize the sub-forums and such so they are more inline with these changes. I will leave the current non-organization, non-rule projects created by the SoC completely untouched. However I may introduce new rules governing it so it meshes better with roleplay. So do not worry, Oscalatine. Your projects would remain untouched, unharmed and completely as you have built them. I am not about to ruin or erase someone's hard work.

While I wait for approval (or disapproval) for this, I am going to do some cartography stuff.

Ras for SoC? Razz (Both you and Osc would be highly competent. I would not be so.)

I agree with all the first posts. Would this require a new forum, because I'd be fine with that. Obviously there would be a continuity with this forum, but if structural reorganization is needed, we can establish a new forum.

Hmmm....

I see this....

Rasvidi,

by the power invested in me as Secretary of Culture, I give you TEMPORARY powers to revise the laws as you see fit.

This power, however, is to be within approval with Holy Edesu Socialist State (who hereon will be named HESS), who will be, on behalf of Secretary of Culture (who hereon will be abbreviated SoC), will be overseeing the project to promote balance and representation of all factions within the Tiberiam Roleplay Community.

This power will give Rasvidi all the power of SoC necessary to TEMPORARILY revise, modify, add, subtract, and delete ALL revisionary acts that has been passed or not passed or non-existent acts or laws. HOWEVER, the "Golden RP" Law of 1494 HE SHALL NOT BE REVISED, EDITED, ADDED, SUBTRACTED, OR DELETED or altered in ANY SHAPE OR FORM with the power invested in Rasvidi OR HESS.

This power investment begins at 9:35 Eastern Standard Time, June 9th, 2011 --=TO=-- 12:00am Eastern Standard Time, June 21, 2011. After this timeframe, Rasvidi and HESS will be revoked of this invested power. All TEMPORARY revisions, modification, addition, or subtraction to the acts or laws will be reverted back to norm set by SoCs.

HOWEVER, the current SoC reserves ALL rights to maintain the laws and acts for permanent laws. SoC also reserves ALL rights to reinstate Rasvidi or HESS to this position should SoC sees fit.

There we go ^^ I'll be out for awhile... I'll come back on that date... I hope...

Cya laterz!!!

[[Also... for those crap you said... I have my own ideas as to what to do... I'll be editing it and adding it to perm laws with permission when I return... I have a feeling that we'll bring third coming of Tiberiam!!! ^^]]
