| Oscalantine’s naval forces have retreated into homeland for restocking. This meant that there was a lot more naval protection for the meeting with Isis Rakael. Since the announcement of Isis Rakael going global, Oscalantine have been swamped with media, especially the Executor, who has started the whole Lazeal Ra in the talk show. Although that statement was short lived, the story has still caught the eyes of the public, which have been disappointed by what has happened. The feeling of betrayal was inevitable, and there was supposed to be a vote to revoke the Executor from office… a vote that would’ve had more than enough votes to take the Executor out of office. There WAS supposed to be a vote. The Melcoba Family acted… all to suddenly, and all too subtly. The Melcoba Family have stated on the day of the population vote that they will have a public announcement, which made the vote cancelled and the entire media storming to Melcoba Manor in order to get a glimpse of the rare family in their high-security mansion. - Quote :
From the enormous patio of the large, white mansion that seemed more like a modernized castle, Farnor Melcoba, a man in his seventies yet still in full vigor, came out to greet the media. Every media station from Oscalantine was there, including NNN. There were other groups as well, like various corporate officials that came to record the full footage of the entire speech. Melcoba Family NEVER did public announcements… what little announcement that they did was recorded and sent to selective media stations to be aired as they see fit. This was the case with Mr. Koh’s eviction, and this was the case since Oscalantine’s finding. There were very few instances where Melcoba Family came into the light of public, one of which was when the new Executor was being “crowned.” This case was too rare that such an announcement seemed strange. However, no one had authority to stop this man, as this single family had enough power in Oscalantine to even destroy the Oscalantine itself.
The massive front yard has been set with tables and televisions. The table was set in such ways that they seemed to be having a luncheon, while the announcer and the host will be broadcasted live via the TV in front of them for better footage. Everyone had seats… there was enough table and luxurious food to feed over ten thousand people.
Just as all the guests were served and fed some of the best foods in the world, Farnor Melcoba came out from the patio to greet his guests. Everyone silenced themselves to eagerly listen to what the Melcoba Family had to say.
Greetings, children of the Corporation. I am glad that we have all met here for our luncheon. I hope that you have found our hospitality enjoyable, and I also hope that you will forgive me for preventing the Population Vote from taking place.
I have very simple reasons. I hope you all know that today is my granddaughter’s birthday. I would hate to have such day gloomed by the overthrow of her good friend, Executor Nate. I hope you can understand this personal reason and that you will forgive the old man for caring for his granddaughter.
Contrary to what most people would think, no one objected to the personal nature of Farnor stopping the vote from taking place. While this was all true, Farnor could’ve found numerous different reasons to stop the vote on “personal reasons,” as Farnor always tries to make everything personal to prevent backlash to the government from pressuring the Melcoba Family to do something. Many people believe that Oscalantine is simply using Melcoba Family’s power to meet certain needs. That probably couldn’t be more farther from truth…
There is, however, other reason as well.
I would like to take this time to point out an organization that I have found displeasing. Our family could not help but to notice that many of the reviews of the Executor have been rather falsified. He is a great man that has lead Oscalantine into a prosperous tomorrow that is today. He has been our first and greatest Executor. My children, we have been acting so rash. You have forgotten the oppression that you have faced under the regime of USI, the despicable nation that is symbol of inefficiency. We need to remember that as a first Executor of Oscalantine, the Executor Nate has promised and fulfilled a better, more efficient tomorrow. I, therefore, find it insulting that the Church of Purity has been rather rash in their actions to overthrow the executor and cause civil unrest.
Everyone’s eyes have turned to the Church of Purity’s members, who have been given invitation to come. The members gulped at the disapproval, as although Farnor did not openly condemned them, this could mean that the government has every excuse to exterminate their very existence under the name of Melcoba Family.
Farnor now directly spoke to the members of the Church of Purity.
My children, you must remember your roots. I shall give you a fair warning. You have been warned, my child. You shall reform your wanton ways, lest you shall be no more in Oscalantine.
Farnor now took a pause, which indicated that the was changing subject. The members of Church of Purity have breathed out a sigh of relief. There won’t be government oppression… yet.
Now, I remember that there was a shenanigans with Isis Rakael. They have been a great nation with great power. Why must we be fretting at the existence of the nation? We must have relationships… good ones… with them! Why are you so upset that you have been lied to? Do you not know how efficient the Executor’s decision has been? If you do not, I say you have to condemn yourselves before overthrowing the Executor. I urge everyone who was going to vote against the Executor to show self-reflection. Why must we vote out the Executor for being unable to please everyone? The history will tell you the impact of the decision. But I will guarantee: this is favorable decision for Oscalantine and its people in whole.
So my dear children, do not whine on every little media coverage. Do not shout at decisions made by the Executor because you do not understand it. Trust our government. They know what they are doing… or they will be long since gone by us, the Melcoba Family. My dear children, let the Executor continue… let him be forgiven for minor mistake, and let him guide the entire Oscalantine to better tomorrow. I urge you to stop your fuss about today, and find hope in tomorrow. My children, I have said all that I wish to say. Enjoy the rest of the luncheon.
With that, Farnor left the patio to inside of the mansion. No one followed, no one questioned him. If Farnor wishes for interview, he would’ve selected a few people to come with him. As expected, a few media members from various broadcast stations have been given pass at various times of the day to meet Farnor in his private study.
The rest of the people enjoyed the luncheon until the courtesy of Melcoba Family have ran out, and they have returned home.
With that, the Population Vote to evict the Executor out of office was removed. The Church of Purity have ceased all operations, and have declared an open apology to the government of Oscalantine for overreacting to certain events. The media covered the documentary of USI’s cruel regimes and the revolution of Oscalantine against USI after the broadcast of the public speech by Farnor. Media will have several weeks of “glorify the Executor” until the attention of Melcoba Family have turned back inwards, as no one wanted to give an excuse for Melcoba Family to allow Oscalantine to erase them out of existence.
Hundreds of submarines, five destroyers, and a single aircraft carrier guarded a massive cruise ship that was similar to the size of the aircraft carrier that was guarding it. There was all three Stealth Submarines guarding the cruise undersea, and at least three ARXX recon UAVS patrolled the area at one time. The Melcoba Family’s private cruise, The Floating Display was slowly making its way into the meeting place where Oscalantine was supposed to meet Isis Rakael officials. The Cruise was basically a floating museum, complete with all the convenience of a cruise ship. It was the largest civilian ship in Oscalantine, and it stored anywhere from dinosaur bones to priceless pieces of art. The interior was decorated with white gold, platinum, and silver. Its halls were bejeweled with Onyx. The fleet was like walking treasure, and its beauty equaled the cultural aspect of priceless pieces of art. The ship was constructed, fortunately, with USI’s funding, as to apologize for the wrongs that it has done to Melcoba Family. Since then, several renovation was done to ensure that the ship’s hulls can store artistic pieces. The ship was manned with a complete orchestra and its lodgings, along with approximately hundred crewmen, a handful of guards, and fifty servicemen. During the course of this particular trip, however, these armed guards were replaced with Corporate Army, with nearly one hundred aboard the ship. The total Corporate Army members in this entire fleet amounted to about three thousand. Two of the top 6 Inc30 were here, and several of the bottom 24 was also present. The ship soon came to its destination, with all the fleets assuming protective position. The Cruise stopped its motion and started to set up for the guests. In the halls of this floating museum there will be held a grand meeting, where Farnor Melcoba, Head Secretary Miss Kim of Nexus Incorporated, Dr. Lee of Nexus R&D Department, CEO Ajax Park of Rhombiom Corporation, and CEO David Moon of Dazz Group was present with countless business officials to discuss business as well as diplomatic relations with officials from Isis Rakael. There wasn’t a set ground for talks, but most likely the meeting will ensue with topics of economic treaties and joint research projects. All in all, Oscalantine officials waited with anticipation for the fleet of Isis Rakael to arrive and complete the protection circle and to get the Isis-Oscal meeting started.

| General Milan Reitz, the head of the Isis Rakael Security Council, was furious. Never before had such ire raged through his body as it did just then when he received the first reports of the Oscalantine fleet that was now settled protectively around the cruise ship. No, this would not stand. He would not allow it. He slammed his fist down on his desk and ground his teeth. The nerve! These fools from the north dare to bring a fleet of such proportions to a diplomatic meeting? It sickened him. He cared little about the politics of the situation, but cared immensely for the safety of Isis Rakael and her people, especially members of her government. The fact that the pre-arranged meeting place was nowhere near the Rakaelian mainland did little to ease him.
Upon receiving the reports, he called President Jiri Iroh himself and urged him to cancel the meeting. The risk it posed was too great, but Iroh, in his usual calm demeanor, told his old friend that the meeting would take place nonetheless. Oscalantine would not risk a conflict with Isis Rakael. They were simply cautious, overly-cautious perhaps, but one could hardly blame them. War had ravaged Hiborea for some time. They must still be on edge. Mark Lautens has said something similar. Neither helped Reitz's mood, but he was resigned to put the matter aside and make the call to the commander at sea to move in.
This was a poor first impression. A business partner of the nation, perhaps, but Oscalantine was no friend of his.
Secretary of State Mark Lautens stood at the bow of the IRNF Concorde, looking out at the massive ocean all about that dwarfed the frigate that transported him to the meeting place. He was so small. Everything was. It was beautiful to look at. The waters were calm in this part of the world. A sea of glass broken only by the churning engines of the frigate and its escort. Lautens gaze shifted from the ocean to the warships that flanked him on the left and right. The IRND's Actium and Lysander glided smoothly through the water on either side of him, themselves dwarfing the frigate they protected. He studied them, their smooth gray hulls, their huge forward cannons, the missile batteries, the radar dishes spinning high above the deck, probing ever vigilantly for threats. Flying high and proud was the IR flag, its white stars gleaming brightly in the sun.
Glancing back behind him the far distance, Lautens saw their shadow. Small to the eye at this distance, but far greater in size than the destroyers, the IRNAC Oberon, an aircraft carrier, followed slowly. At regular intervals, a fighter jet could be seen taking off from the flight deck and traveling southward toward the mainland of Caspadius. The IRSC had been itching to start charting this area of the continent and this served as a perfect excuse to do so.
"Ten minutes, Mr. Secretary."
Lautens turned and nodded to the ensign that had come up behind him and relayed the message. Ten minutes. That was not a lot of time. This was his first international meeting. The new government structure of Isis Rakael had only taken affect within the last two years and their self-imposed communication blackout had prevented any earlier opportunities to meet with representatives of foreign nations. He wouldn't admit it, but he was nervous. Who wouldn't be? Isis Rakael had been removed from the world for years. There would be many questions that needed to be answered in that regard. Fortunately, however, he thought presently, the bulk of the meetings would not involve him. He was suddenly grateful for the presence of the CEO's that had come with him. They would spare him a lot of talk.
The frigate and its two escorts turned eastward and the Oscalantine fleet, previously blocked from view by the hull of the Lysander, loomed into view. It was massive. Far too large for such a metting. Lautens frowned deeply and found himself imagining General Reitz screaming on the phone in outrage. The fact that he was still moving toward the cruise ship was an indicator that Reitz had failed to convince the president to cancel the meeting, but there was nothing for it.
There was a gap in the defensive net surrounding the cruise ship and the destroyers, undaunted by the size of the Oscalantine fleet, moved in without hesitation. The Oberon, still far away, dropped anchor and watched from afar. Pilots and flight deck crew swarmed over the flight deck, prepping fighter jets for deployment both southward to chart and take images, and northward to provide air support for the cruise ship. If any crew member on any of their vessels felt any hesitation at being so outnumbered by the Oscalantine fleet, they said nothing of it. Lautens tooks that as a sign of professionalism and was suddenly proud of the armed forces and the training they received.
Within minutes, Lautens, the CEOs, their officials, and a dozen IRSC elite guards, dressed and armored in black, stood on the deck of the cruise ship, looking back as the transport helicopter that carried them over flew back to the frigate. Lautens breathed in deeply, then exhaled. Looking around at all of the men that manned the cruise ship, he suddenly realized how large of a risk President Iroh was taking here. They were greatly outnumbered, both in personnel and in ship count. He hoped Iroh was right, though. Oscalantine wouldn't risk a conflict. The meeting would go smoothly. If it didn't, the likelihood of war was extremely high and the sudden withdrawal of Rakaelian trade would cause Oscalantine stocks to plummet. To most nations, the latter would be a small concern, but to Oscalantine, that would be a crushing blow.
His party was ushered into the halls of the cruise ship to where the Oscalantine officials were congregated. He looked around, frowning that he didn't see Executor Kwon anywhere. He had better have a good reason for not showing up. Lautens had reviewed a list of the people who were supposed to be in attendance and he recognized most of them immediately, but there was one elderly man that he did not know. Judging by the actions of the others, though, he was a person of great importance.
Clearing his throat, he spoke to those present.
"Good evening. My name is Mark Lautens. I, along with these men, represent the nation of Isis Rakael. May I introduce Thomas Lindback, CEO of Lindback Corporation. I believe you all are well acquainted. This is Petter Strand, CEO of Ellisse, Incorporated." He gestured toward a short, balding, and portly man dressed in a light brown sports coat. He wasn't big on formalities. Perhaps a result of the industry in which he worked.
"These are James Scott, CEO of Triton Dynamics, and Kazuya Yukimura, CEO of Subbach Innes."
He ran through the rest of the people in attendance, sighing in relief that he remembered their names. The rest was up to them. His job was meet with Executor Kwon to discuss the political side of things. Kwon's absence from the meeting was alarming to say the least and Lautens suddenly found himself at a loss.

| “Alpha, we have Isis bastards with their bigass ships coming in.” Sir Beta announced over his flagship, The CorpS Dracool, the latest nuclear aircraft carrier that is in command of the entire fleet. He, however, still answers to Madam Alpha, who is still the highest in the pecking order amongst the Corporate Army.
“Alright, Sir Beta. Proceed as scheduled. Madam Delta and Madam Iota, please move your Incorporated Stealth Subs into Elephant Youngster Pack. A-001, would you also disengage the Wolf Pack? Let the Rakaelian ships dock in peace.” Madam Alpha stated.
The SeaByte moved as scheduled. As smoothly as it could possibly be, all the destroyers moved away from the cruise, allowing a giant circle with approximately a mile in radius. The aircraft carrier moved away from the entire cruise, but stayed within the two-mile wide circular territory. The Wolf Pack, indication of submarines that encircled the cruise underwater, instantly dispersed into outer circle, leaving the three Stealth Submarines to circle the cruise unhindered. Of course, Stealth Submarines will not be visible by radar to begin with, so there wasn’t going to be anything on the radius that Oscalantine fleet made. Oscalantine’s fleet seems to be more heavily concentrated up North, and seems to be relying on Isis Rakael to prevent any southern offensives, if that even existed. The helicopter was allowed to land safely, and get on the magnificent cruise.
All the members of the summit were waiting for the guests to arrive in an exceptionally large reception hall. An entire symphony was playing in the background in this platinum hall, and several priceless pieces of art were displayed. The most prominent and certainly the largest painting was an oilpaint from Rasvidi, painted in the interpretation of the revolution that overthrew the Commonwealth. There really was no reason to be there apart from Farnor’s taste for revolution. Other pieces of art also showed scenes of battle, mostly from Rasvidi or Oscalantine. There were some arts from Isis Rakael and Gracealona, but these were small and few in number.
Farnor was, for lack of better words, chatting with the CEOs of the companies about the pointless things. Farnor was especially interested in talking with Head Secretary Miss Kim of Nexus Inc concerning the current health of the overworked Executor. He was jumping from war to treaty to another war to a summit… and with campaigns that he needed to run, as population vote to overthrow him took place almost every other week. Farnor wasn’t all the thrilled with the current Executor being pushed around. After all, Farnor knew him since he was a small little child when Valarie, Fleet Admiral of Oscalantine Navy, took the young Nate to Farnor’s manor to be instructed proper table manners.
Farnor’s attention shifted to President Iroh when Secretary of State Mark Lautens came into the hall and started to speak. Farnor examined the calm, yet ever so slightly disturbed President of Isis Rakael. Indeed, Farnor, too, was agitated at the number of guards that this place needed. However, Oscalantine took every precaution to protect the Melcoba Family… and the case was the same now. Farnor never actually met any of the Isis’s officials… save for Thomas Lindback, who had a share in Melcoba Alliance. However, he could tell that all this protection certainly wasn’t a good impression to start.
Farnor dismissed Miss Kim and headed over to the officials. Instantly, the two Corporate Army members in their White Figurine battle suit came and matched pace with the head of Melcoba Family. One of them was more or less walking straight with his hands folded behind his back, while the other was fiddling with sort of PDA, which allowed her to align the automated turrets in the hall to where it was needed. With the movement of Farnor, every Corporate Army within the room shifted by walking slightly to get a full vision of Farnor. Farnor Melcoba was certainly an important figure… perhaps the most important figure… of Oscalantine, and they wanted no mistakes.
Farnor stood about a yard away from President Iroh and the rest of the Rakaelian officials. Just before Farnor wanted to greet the president, the male White Figurine stepped forward and started his speech… as usual.
“Dear Sirs, you are in presence of Farnor Melcoba, the head of Melcoba Family of the Corporation, President of the Melcoba Corporation, and Corporate Head of Melcoba Alliance. You shall be warned once and once only: should any harm befall to Sir Melcoba, Oscalantine will engage in act of war with any state responsible for its actions, regardless of cost, effort, and outcome.”
“Dae-Ji!” Farnor stated with slight annoyance, “Go back to your post! I do not need your assistance!”
“But sir –“ Sir Digamma started,
“That is Grandpa Farnor for you, young man, you shall stay silent or I shall revoke your license as my guard! Now leave us!” Farnor hissed.
“Yes, gramps. Helena, take care of him.” Sir Digamma said as he retreated to his position.
Madam Qoppa nodded.
“Sorry for interruption, officials of Isis Rakael. My grandson, as well as the entire Oscalantine, seems to be paranoid about me being shot every second. Hence all these…” Farnor paused before emphasizing the next word loud enough to be heard by sensitive earshot of the Corporate Army, “unnecessary precautions.”
Immediately, Madam Qoppa moved back a step, and rest of the Corporate Army moved back to their designated positions. Farnor signed. He was obviously frustrated by the bad first impression.
“As you have been so rudely introduced to, I am Farnor Melcoba, head of the Melcoba Family and President of the Melcoba Corporation, we are just a small, family-run business that collects precious pieces of art, like the ones that are decorating this private cruise of mine. I shall show all of you the grand tour on another time, as all of you are probably not here to view my collection.”
“I am afraid to tell you that Executor Nate is not here with us at this time,” Farnor Continued, “he had other things to attend to, and he isn’t anywhere near his current health to run into the middle of the ocean to meet a forgotten nation. He, nonetheless, will be joining us via video chat if necessary. I shall be the substitute until then. I certainly hope that this old man would be enough for officials to quell their annoyance.”
Farnor took out his pocket watch and checked the time: it was about an hour past noon. Farnor put his watch away and clapped his hand at the end of the symphony, which was playing slow background music until then. Although the timing seemed flawless, a music expert would know that Farnor actually interrupted the music and stopped the symphony from continuing with his clap. Everyone else followed suit, and the orchestra bowed and retreated. Slow background music now flowed out from the speakers of the reception hall, which was less prominent yet filled the air with something.
“If you have any concerns or questions, I will be happy to answer them. If not, we shall moved to the meeting room for a summit, and hopefully be done by dinner.” Farnor said, “Ah and I believe I should introduce Oscalantine’s officials.”
“Farnor turned around to address the Oscalantine’s corporate officials, who were now standing several steps behind Farnor until this time.
“This is Miss Kim of Nexus Incorporated. She shall be representative of Nexus Inc. This is CEO of Rhombiom Corporation, Ajax Park, and this is David Moon of Dazz Group. As for that man in white labcoat, he is Doctor Linda Lee, the Nexus Inc R&D Department Head. And the rest… well, they are the rest.” Farnor said, skipping less important members to reserve time.

| (OOC: Actually, President Iroh is not in attendance. He was only mentioned as having allowed the meeting to take place despite the inordinate size of the Oscalantine fleet. Filler for my post. lol Mark Lautens, the Secretary of State, is the highest ranked government official in attendance. While the President probably should be in attendance, I decided Lautens could handle things. Besides, Iroh has much to attend to in Isis Rakael. And I just don't trust you. )The warning of Sir Digamma, while dismissed by the Rakaelian Secretary and those with him, was poorly received by the IRSC elite guards and they stepped forward, hands moving to their weapons. Desiring to quell a situation before it could arise, Mark Lautens rose his hand and waved off his guards. They paused for a moment, eyeing Sir Digamma as he retreated, then slowly stepped back themselves and took up their defensive positions once again. "Please forgive my escort," Lautens muttered and hoped nothing more would be said about the situation. Casting a glance back at his guards, he gave them a reassuring nod and turned back. Farnor Melcoba. Lautens had nearly gasped at the introduction. He had not expected that. It would account for the massive fleet. Isis Rakael, while aware of Farnor, knew nothing about him. This would be a perfect opportunity to get to know him and begin a "file." As limited as the information they might gain would be, at least it would be something. Stepping forward and offering a slight bow, Lautens spoke. "Mr. Melcoba, let me first say what an honor it is to meet you. I would like to thank you immensely for the invitation that you bestowed to us. I hope that by the end of this, Rakaelian and Oscalantine relations will be vastly improved. I apologize for my reaction and the reaction of my guards during your introduction, but I was not expecting your attendance at this meeting. I hope you will forgive our rashness. I also apologize that President Iroh is not here to greet you personally, but as you can imagine, running a nation ths size of Isis Rakael takes a tremendous amount of attention and he couldn't spare the time. I hope you understand. I am, however, well equipped to handle and discuss anything that may be covered during the duration of the cruise." He greeted Miss Kim, Ajax Park, David Moon, and Dr. Lee, as well. "It is a beautiful vessel you have here, sir. I am blown away by everything I see, especially the artwork. Simply beautiful." He took a moment to review the various bits of artwork that hung about the hall. The rest of his party had mixed feelings. The CEOs in particular seemed to have little interest in the artwork or the orchestra and were itching to get the meetings started. Time was money to them. The faster they could get started, they faster ideas could be exchanged and plans be made. The lesser officials and diplomats in attendance were divided, some watching the orchestra and clearly enjoying what they were hearing, some looking at the artwork with interest, and the rest were loitering about, staring nervously at the automated turrets. Lautens was already going over the summit in his head, running over possible questions and the answers he would have to give. This was a unique situation, given Isis Rakael's situation the last few years. He figured there would be questions regarding that - who wouldn't ask? He was going over the rest, though, too. Oscalantine was all about trade and commerce. What would boost their stocks the most is what they would pursue. Perhaps that gave Lautens a bargaining chip. He filed that thought away for later use should the need arise. What would Oscalantine be looking for? What would they be offering in return? A lot of questions. They would all be answered in due time, but he would feel better knowing before he dove right into it. It would make things easier on him. Such was diplomacy, though. You didn't always have the luxury of being able to avoid the hard questions or handling offers that could affect an entire nation. He smiled. He love it. Despite the hardships of the position, this was exactly what he wanted to do. He thought back to the hard-fought election between he and his opponent. It was a nasty affair, but he would do it all again if it meant re-election. He smiled. "Well," Lautens said at last. "Shall we get started?" He motioned for his party to gather their things together and proceed to the meeting room. As they walked, he could hear Petter Strand already talking to Ajax Park about various pieces of heavy machinery. Behind him, Kazuya Yukimura muttered something about a thermal laser while James Scott said nothing, able to wait until the proper time to address trade, research and development, and corporate collaboration. Thomas Lindback, taking up the rear as they walked, spent his time making small talk with Miss Kim. Lautens himself, fortunate to be within earshot of Farnor Melcoba, who was surrounded by Corporate Army members, offered his opinions on the artwork he had seen in the hall. Although he didn't know much about art - especially foreign works - small talk, he thought, couldn't hurt. | |

| Seeing as CEOs and Isis Rakael has no particular interest in the reception area, which Farnor half-expected, Farnor nodded his head at Lautner’s question. The meeting will likely take place longer than anyone would expect, so getting started quicker would be better for everyone, as Farnor hated to stay up too late. Farnor was a bit disappointed at the CEOs of Isis Rakael, however. Farnor had a tight moral standard… perhaps too much as a head of multi-corporation corporation, if it made sense. He had a moral standard that he abided by, which included appreciating the works of culture and other beauties that would be ignored otherwise by capitalists. He believed that by getting closer to the people, who appreciated other things than capital, he and his company would be able to win the heart and wallet of the people that they relied upon. Alas, it is difficult moral standard to uphold, but it has been found to work in Oscalantine, as Oscalantine’s citizens simply rely on Farnor and Oscalantine’s moral standards to not lower the minimal wage while keeping them somehow meticulously unwritten in the law. In fact, any type of civil services and social welfare system would be at the mercy of companies that dominate Oscalantine. For now, that grace is Nexus Inc, who has adapted Farnor’s moral standards. Farnor’s wish is that someday, companies could be trusted to run all types of government, be it capitalist, communist, fascist, etc. And thus, he couldn’t help but to feel a bit disappointed that very little shared his ideals. However, this was not the place to discuss his moral ideals. Farnor whirled his left index finger once, and instantly everything started to move. The guards decided to circle around Farnor in two circles: one to protect everyone, and one to exclusively protect Farnor. This couldn’t be helped, as Sir Digamma always had sort of protective obsession with his grandfather. Usually, Corporate Army would be under directly order of the Executor. In short, all Corporate Army members are equal in status. However, this is certainly not true. Oscalantine’s Inc30 ranking system made sure that highest ranked members would take the lead, while lower ranked or unranked officers would be following the higher ranks with moral standard. In the case with the cruise, all of the Corporate Army members would be under influence of Farnor, who was the only person with greater authority than the Executor. However, this was not the case, as the Corporate Army members almost instinctively obeyed orders from Madam Alpha and Sir Digamma, as they were the highest ranked officers from bottom24 and top6 respectively. The meeting room wasn’t that far ahead. After a short walk through the onyx-bejeweled halls of the massive cruise vessel, the group came into a marble double door that was trimmed with white gold. Before the group even reached a few feet from the door, several Corporate Army members sprang to action, entering the door instantly and scouring the area for any potential traps or bugs. Of course, there wasn’t any. But Sir Digamma was disgusted at how much bugs that his group found in the meeting room. They were flies and mosquitoes, but they annoyed Digamma enough that the room was, in all technicality, “bugged.” Farnor laughed at what was going on, but he didn’t make any comment about Digamma’s comments. He was much more interested in teaching Mr. Lautens about the priceless piece of Rasvidi arts, which were all created by famous artists of its time depicting the Rasvidi’s victory over the Commonwealth. Indeed, the chats were inconsequential, but very entertaining, as everyone tried to measure the other’s strength while dodging those hard-to-answer questions. The most amusing was how Miss Kim seems to be frustrated that she could not get a single answer out of Thomas Lindback about where he was for the last couple of months. Miss Kim was more direct than anyone here, as Head Secretary concerned with facts, not the politics of business world like the CEOs. At last, the Corporate Army was satisfied enough to let everyone in, and Farnor entered first into a large, oval room. The meeting room had a different feel than rest of the ship, as it was the only room that was made out of wood-like materials instead of chrome-like feeling of metal. The room held two half-doughnut desks, which was placed side by side to complete each other while leaving a small room in the divide. In the center, a small, circular table was set with flags of two nations crossing one another. The room gave woodsy feeling of sort of past forgotten era of pre-modern diplomacy, which Farnor liked the feeling of. The Corporate Army members took their places in the walls of the oval room, while few of them ushered the guests into the Isis’s seating place of the oval. Sir Digamma personally escorted Farnor into his seat, which had slightly better cushioned seat for the elderly to seat in comfortably for a long period of time. Farnor waited for everyone take their seats. Once everyone was seating, the Corporate Army members… all of them… streamed out of the room in two lines, and closing the door after them. It was obvious that Farnor made this order, and Sir Digamma was rather hesitant about leaving the room. However, what was more obvious was that behind every paint, which could instantly be tell that it was fake printouts of more priceless pieces of art, was an auto-turret ready to fire when instructed. After the Corporate Army members left the room and closed the door, a speaker turned on with a silent “thud,” and a voice of a female operator started the meeting: - Quote :
“Good evening, Ladies and Gentleman of the Isis-Oscal meeting. I am Madam Melcoba, the head secretary of Melcoba Family as well as head spokesperson. I shall be reading the current state of interest in the side of Oscalantine.”
“Oscalantine, as Rakaelian officials would know, is interested in economy more than anything else. Therefore, our primary objective for the meeting today is economic treaties. Our hopes are that Isis Rakael’s vast market will be open to Oscalantine’s companies, and vice versa. It is also in our hopes to create certain companies’ branches as well as place of manufacturing within Isis Rakael, as the distance between our two nations are too vast to cover in any efficient matter. We would also hope that our two nations could create a mutual port between our two nations in order to allow swifter trades.”
“Of course, these are merely suggestions, and not demands, as Oscalantine knows its and especially Isis Rakael’s position in the global society. Oscalantine, meanwhile is prepared, if not thrilled to negotiate joint projects as well as company-to-company trades between our nations. The details of these negotiations are to be expected to follow into the meeting.”
“I would like to end this briefing with a word of gratitude on behalf of Melcoba Family, Oscalantine, and Melcoba Alliance. We sincerely welcome the Isis Rakael’s officials into our halls and welcome your nation back to the global world. Needless to say, we have missed you… if not your market.” Madam Melcoba joked as her voice ran silent.

| Secretary of State Mark Lautens nodded once the voice silenced, and he began:
"Let me thank you all again for the hospitality that you have shown us thus far and for the invitation to this meeting. President Iroh sends his personal gratititude to the members of Nexus, Inc. for their preservation of the identity and location of Isis Rakael. We realize that the strain of keeping such information a secret must have been extremely difficult. As a show of our gratitude, we are willing to listen to anything you have to say regarding trade. We hope the end result of this summit is mutually beneficial. It is important, however, to remember our political stances. The affairs of Hiborea are no longer our concern. There was a time when we intervened, but it has since passed. All that resulted was death and war. Hiborea continues to be ravaged by it. As such, we will not enter into any agreement that would risk pulling our nation into an international conflict. I realize that such an agreement has not been offered by the your nation, but it is best that you take our stance into consideration prior to the tendering of any economic treaties. Even economic treaties have their risks. I ask you not to take that statement in an ill manner, for it was not stated with such intent. It is simply important for us, given our position, to let you know where we stand."
"While we excited about trade, however, there are conditions that must be met. We realize that the distance between our nations is vast, but we will not - at this time - agree to the establishment of Oscalantine manufacturing facilities within the borders of Isis Rakael. I understand that there is a great benefit to this suggestion, but it also imposes a severe security risk to our nation that we are not yet willing to take on. The safety of our nation is our foremost concern."
"As for a port, Isis Rakael has always had strong relations with the Serilese people. If our intelligence is correct, the government of Serilaq has begun colonizing the islands south of Oscalantine. Should our three governments agree to it, a port might be established in their territory for the purpose of exchanging goods. A more logical place, however, is the western island of Noratreos. The eastern coast of the island has not yet been claimed by any nation and would be a perfect middle ground for a port linking our two nations. Our nation would prefer, for the sake of distance, the island of Noratreos. Should an economic treaty be signed, we can begin joint-construction of a port city on the eastern coast. Should an outside nation choose to colonize that section of the island, we will need to meet with the occupying force to negotiate terms to keep the port open."
Lautens paused momentarily and cleared his throat.
"Let's not be hasty, though," he added as an afterthought and said more to himself than to the room. There would be more time for that topic later. They weren't done. He looked at the rest of his party. They were all sitting silently, listening intentively, and waiting for their own turn to speak.
He began again, addressing them all, but looking at Ajax Park of Rhombion Corporation.
"We understand that your nation has been suffering from a shortage of titanium. Our mining city of Toras Nym has recently come across extremely large quantities of titanium ore and we are willing to share our find with the Oscalantine people. While we are capable of mining, extracting, and processing the ore, our equipment needs upgrading. We understand that Rhombiom Corporation specializes in heavy machinery, especially mining equipment. In exchange for titanium, we would like to ask Mr. Park and Rhombiom Corporation to work with CEO Strand of Ellisse, Incorporated for the advancement of our mining equipment."
Lautens smiled. That should get their attention, he mused.
"If you don't mind, ladies and gentlemen, I will give the floor to Mr. Lindback."
He sat down as Thomas Lindback rose from his seat.
"Good day to all and especially to you, Mr. Melcoba," Lindback stated with reverence, given his corporation's standing within Oscalantine and the Melcoba Alliance. It was feigned, merely a custom he acknowledged due to his position, but he smiled and bowed courteously to Farnor.
"All this talk of trade. It's exciting, isn't it? The idea of coffers being stuffed with money is always an enjoyable fantasy, but I'm afraid that my attendance here is to deliver news. As long as youv'e known me, you've known I am direct and I do not beat around the bush. So I'll simply say it. Lindback Corporation has long been working with Nexus, Inc. on the development of a new figher aircraft. I'm sad to say that we will be dropping out of the research and development of this project. While we are capable of lending assistance, we must step aside to allow a stronger partner to step up. Triton Dynamics, with the approval of Nexus, Inc. will take our place. They have long been Isis Rakael's leading fighter specialist company and will be far better suited and equipped to aid you in this joint-endeavor. I would like to thank Nexus for allowing Lindback Corporation to assist them thus far and I hope they embrace James Scott as well as they have embraced me. Lindback Corp. will continue to assist in the research of the magnesium-air fuel cells."
Lindback sat back down and Mark Lautens stood once more.
"This endeavor concerns our government, and especially the members of Isis Rakael Security Council, most of all. Our stance is not to interfere with the affairs of others. Entering into an agreement to develop a new fighter puts our nation at risk. We are willing to take that risk with the hopes for furthering our attempts to keep our nation secure against enemy threats. There are conditions, though, I'm afraid, and they are non-negotiable. You must understand. In exchange for the assistance of Triton Dynamics, the IRSC asks for any and all data and blueprints regarding the Oscalantine stealth submarine project."
Lautens paused once more to gauge the reaction of the room. Yes, the IRSC knew of them, but knew nothing about them. They wanted that technology... and badly.
"Our second condition centers around the aircraft itself. We must insist that the end result of this project be a fighter built for defensive purposes only. To bring a Rakaelian-Oscalantine fighter into combat against a foreign nation would have dire consequences. I assure you that any development of a stealth submarine by the IRSC would be used solely to defend the waters bordering our nation."
He sat once more and took a sip of water from the glass in front of him. He hadn't talked this much since the elections. He'd have to get used to it again. He glanced Thomas Lindback whose face indicated that he wasn't sure how the last part would be received.

| The Oscalanatine delegates sat silently and listened to the response to the statement made by Madam Melcoba. All seemed nice. The trade posts would be the best scenario that Oscalantine could imagine, as Oscalantine really did not feel the necessity to hold the burden of the entire trade routes itself. There was also a need for fueling and resupplying the ships, as the trip to the high seas to another continent would not be good if there wasn’t a stop. Oscalantine was well aware of Serilaq’s expansion to Plot 36. However, they did not feel as much threatened about it as how close the land was to its borders. However, as long as the current stands have been ironed out by the two governments, Oscalantine would be more than happy to open up the neutral port at their own expense.
The news of joint project in order to create a new line of fighters was exciting news. Oscalantine have never heard of Triton Dynamics… well, that was probably because they dealt only with Isis Rakael for creation of top-secret government projects. However, if there was a joint-partner even better than Lindback, that was always welcoming. Lindback extending their support to continue the development… or rather, improvement… of MGO fuel cells was also very welcome, as Oscalantine was continuing to try to improve the cells to sustain longer periods of activity in the field.
When Mr. Lindback sat down and Mark Lautens stood up again, everyone in Oscalantine was truly thankful and rather excited about what Mark was about to say next.
Of course, now was time for their demands.
Everyone’s faces went dark with exception of Farnor. Stealth Submarine was Oscalantine’s greatest weapon, as it was practically undetectable. The technology was truly exclusive to Osalantine, along with Thermal Laser. And as such, these two inventions have been classified as “Corporate Secrets,” and they are never uttered outside the Oscalantine borders. Not only that, the technology is never up for negotiation… well, until now, anyways.
The room went silent as people sat around sipping their cup of water. Ajax Park, the CEO of Rhombiom Corporation, finally decided to speak up. After clearing his throat, he began:
“Rhombiom Corporation is thrilled to hear the new Titanium reserves in Isis Rakael. It is indeed true that many of our Titianium negotiations have failed thus far and Oscalantine have to end up importing them in ridiculous prices. We would more than happy to work with Ellisse Inc to advance both of our mining equipments. As you are well-aware, most of our mining technology uses automated robots to extract minerals. I am sure that with our joint effort, we will be able to create even better line of mining that will bring less causality and more profits to your resource deposits.” Ajax said clearly, but perhaps a little less enthusiastic than before.
“I believe that we have started in a wrong foot,” Miss Kim said as soon as Ajax finished, “Please do not be concerned for asking such questions. The Stealth Submarine technology is highest-class secret technology, and none of us can really discuss it… perhaps with exception of Mr. Melcoba. This isn’t because we are helpless against the Corporate Secret as much as none of us has the authority or the full blueprints to the technology.”
“The company that have developed the technology was Fetheria Group’s Shipyard Branch. That particular company does not exist anymore, as Fetheria, the largest rival of Dazz Group, have been disintegrated and absorbed into Dazz Group. The Shipyard Branch was the first to go during the time of economic recession a good few years past. Due to this event, Oslose Foundation had to cover for the vacuum formed by the destruction of Fetheria Group to prevent significant loss of jobs. Now, since majority of the Fetheria was bought by Dazz, there will not be any problem for Dazz Group negotiating the secrets except…” Miss Kim hesitated.
“… except the blueprint and the manufactory of technology lies in Oslose Foundation, who have bought the blueprints and the rights during the time that Fetheria Group was slowly being bought by other nations. The Shipyard Branch was bought by Oslose instead of us.” David Moon of Dazz Group continued, “Because of this, none of us truly have the blueprints. While majority of the ship making is created by Nexus Inc and Dazz Group, few government-based projects in the navy, such as submarines and aircraft carriers, are constructed especially in Nexian Sector 05, which is not in any of our jurisdiction.”
David Moon finished the statement, and the meeting fell silent once more.
“I am sorry, my friends.” Farnor Melcoba now broke the silence, “Oslose Foundation’s head is not here in the cruise. If you would like, we could contact the head for you, but I doubt that he would have any authority to discuss the product of interest either. Therefore, the best and the straightest way would be for President Iroh to contact Executor Nate and personally discuss the situation. I could get him into the contact right now, but he I am well-aware that what he will say is just going to be the roundabout ways of saying ‘no.’”
“I suppose this is good time for us to tell you that any type of submarine designs, including the AutomatonPact, the Unmanned Sea Vehicle System that Oscalantine have been developing, is not within any of our authority to say. And with all likelihood, the Executor will not be willing to discuss such a notion in indirect ways.” Miss Kim said, “I believe that in order to discuss the Stealth Submarine technology, a second summit should be held with both the President Iroh and Executor Nathanial present before the negotiation would be fruitful.”
“It is disappointing, but I believe that we must forgo the development of Oscalantine’s fighters. I am sorry, my friend, but none of us have the means of negotiating such technology.”
“Let us put off discussion of fighter planes, then, to a later time.” Miss Kim said, “In the terms of trade relations, Nexus Incorporated would be more than willing to start the construction and expansion of the current ports in order to accommodate for the trade routes. In Plot 36, Oscalantien already has several military and civilian ports that we are negotiating with Serilaqian government for Oscalantine to keep. One of those ports can be expanded to supply, fuel, and fix the trans-continental vessels for the trip. The islands in the Norateos will also be an excellent stop for the port. By having two off-shore ports, we will be able to better specialize for the routes, as goods can be transported from the larger vessels to smaller vessels upon being stocked in the warehouses in each ports to the respective lands. Once the negotiation with Serilaq has finished, we shall began the full development of one of our civilian ports in Plot 36 with permission from Serilaqian government.”
“In terms of other resources, I was wondering if we could discuss the trade of tobacco along with Titanium.” David Moon of Dazz Group said, “While Dazz Group does not have a tobacco industry per se, the cost of cigarettes in Hiborea is ridiculous due to lack of lands to cultivate tobacco. If we are able to sell tobacco leaves to other companies in cheaper prices than what is offered in other providers, the profit would be enormous. The cost of the tobacco doesn’t need to be adjusted in any way by Isis Rakael, as the current cost of tobacco leaves is ridiculous to start with. Any reasonable price in right quantities will start reaping in profits. We will, of course, provide 30% of the raw profits to the providers, as well as the cost for the purchasing the leaves from Isis Rakael. We will also provide our providers with 30% of each profit coming from nicotine products, as Dazz Group’s sales of nicotine products will also go up as cigarettes become more readily available.”
Dazz Group was known for its pharmacy and its leading technology in fields of medicine. Although they did not have enough shares to join the member company status in Oscalantine, its influence in the world as medical provider was pretty wide-reaching. If tobacco products became more available for sales to the masses, it will increase the chances of various diseases such as Lung Cancer and the likes. In such cases, Dazz Group will profit by providing the latest chemotherapy drugs to the hospitals as well as purchases of nicotine patches to prevent smokers from getting further into bad habits. Dazz Group’s insurance agencies will also profit, as agencies will get more sales off of cancer insurances especially from smokers that would want cheap cancer coverage.

| Lautens frowned. Beside him, CEO Yukimura scowled and further down, Thomas Lindback shook his head. James Scott said nothing, merely nodding his head ever so slightly in acknowledgement. There was nothing to be done at this point. That the project demanded a non-negotiable condition was regrettable, but it was the demand of the IRSC, who had become fairly adept at persuading Congress when it came to matters of national security. While the IRSC was no longer the governing body that they once were, they still wielded a fair amount of governmental sway. Some habits die hard.
"That's extremely disappointing," Mark Lautens said at last. "Such a project would go a long way in ensuring the safety of both of our nations."
He did not say it or mean in a threatening way and he paused for a moment to make sure it was not received in such a manner.
"Perhaps it is for the best," he added. The IRSC would not be pleased, but they were upset that this meeting was even occuring. What was one more item to add to their ever increasing lists of dislikes?
Dismissing the matter of the stealth submarine, Lautens turned to Ajax Park and smiled genuinely.
"I'm pleased to hear that, Mr. Park. I'll leave the details of any agreements between Ellisse, Inc. and Rhombiom Corp. to Mr. Strand and yourself."
"As for tobacco," Lautens said with no small degree of relief, "We would gladly be willing to include it with the titanium."
Tobacco was a cause for concern in Isis Rakael. Keeping over a billion people cigarette-free had proved impossible, despite the attempts made since the founding colonies hundreds of years prior, but the government had done a fairly good job at keeping the majority of the population (as far as they could tell) free from the hazard. Giving it to the people of Oscalantine would serve as a far better alternative than selling it within Isis Rakael itself. A shortage of tobacco here was a matter of praise, especially if it filled the coffers of the national treasury. Lautens knew that and was eager to set the wheels in motion on that regard. He said nothing of this to David Moon, however. Lautens was a politician, but he understood business well enough to know not to give your potential buyers any sort of leverage.
He looked down at his PDA, which contained a few notes about topics of discussion. There were two other items on it. The IRSC wanted no part of a joint-project on either. Congress was divided. President Iroh had said to bring it up only if it felt the proper thing to do. The more Lautens thought about, the more he came back to the feeling that perhaps it was not. Isis Rakael was already on the cusp of completing things. To bring in outside assistance might do more harm than good. Isis Rakael was not only a neutral party, but they were entirely closed off from the rest of Hiborea. To the rest of the world, IR had forsaken them. Such statements were not true. It was not intervening, but it was not blind or deaf to the needs of the region. The fact that Oscalantine was approached was due largely in part to the original discovery of the Rakaelian warship and that Oscalantine was not aligned to the major powers. Should they choose to be, however, President Iroh would be faced with a difficult decision.
Mark looked back up, suddenly realizing that everyone was staring at him, waiting for him to continue. How long had he been lost in thought?
"My apologies," he muttered as he cleared his throat. "I believe that ends our agenda. We are willing to deal in Titanium and Tobacco. In exchange, would desire the assitance of Rhombiom Corporation with our mining equipment. The price of the Tobacco will be set later. Mr. Lindback will continue to aid in the MGO fuel cell research, provided that we reap the same benefits as the Oscalantine people from it. In the interest of maintaining our isolation, we will not involve the Serilese government as previously suggested. Should our terms be accepted, we will explore the possibility of constructing a port on the eastern coast of Noratreos."
He stopped there. He would not pursue the last two items. He would have to apologize to CEO Yukimura after the meeting.

| [[You seriously gave me nothing to work with, dude =D]]
“My friends, why do I get an assumption that you have more to share?” Farnor stated with a bit of interest.
Farnor knew that the meeting has turned sour due to stealth submarine technology. Needless to say, though, Oscalantine had little reason to share with Isis something when there was nothing in it for Oscalantine. In the long run, they will indeed have the greatest stealth fighters in Hiborea… that is true. However, there was no guarantee. Oscalantine will sooner die than to invest into a project that does not seem to be solid. No company will invest heavily into a foundation-less project. Therefore, although Farnor had the authority and power to call the Oslose Foundation to get the blueprints, he had purposefully lied… and Rakaelian delegates have taken notice. Farnor also realized that they were rushing into things. And that wasn’t good for business.
“The day is still young, my friends. There is no need to rush.” Farnor continued, indicating that he has yet to make up his mind about the stealth submarine, “We have prepared supper for the delegation as well as tour around the cruise. We still have much to discuss, do we not?”
“Mr. Lindback, we always welcome the joint projects of MgO.” Miss Kim continued where Farnor left off, “The project, thanks to your support, has been in the stage where we have effectively implemented them into mass production. The first mass production variant will be being put into Automated Factories once the factories have been updated to fit the needs.”
“As for projects, Mr. Lautens, there is actually a request from us: a joint project concerning space.” Miss Kim continued, “Nexus Incorporated has been… frustrated… at the lack of the satellites that Oscalantine has, which is basically zero. While the companies make do with Gracealonian or Rasvidian satellites and Oscalantine satisfies its own surveillance with ARXX, we have been reaching a threshold.”
“Nexus Incorporated… and perhaps even Oscalantine… needs satellites of our own in order to continue our agenda. Oscalantine have been looking into investing into Rasvidian projects, but the recent… stir… in the Rasvidi-Oscal relations made us, the Nexus Incorporated, rethink about relying too much on our eastern partners.” Miss Kim said, “We would like to, therefore, ask if Nexus Incorporated can invest into joint space project with Isis Rakael. As you are well aware, Nexus Incorporated is the leading innovator of information technology. With our abilities, you can expect to complete the space project several years earlier than if you have done so normally.”
“And unlike stealth submarine technology, Nexus Inc is in liberty to discuss thermal laser, another of our top-secret projects.” Miss Kim continued, “We do not wish to condemn Mr. Lindback for taking the technology knowing that Isis Rakael was still very much thriving, and we do not want to follow lawsuit or any of the likes. Rather, we are thrilled at the chance of joint project in that area as well. This is also in the interest of Oscalantine as well as Isis Rakael, as we can create defensive platforms in space that can strike the ballistic missiles before they leave the opponents’ bases.”
“As you know, Mr. Lindback, thermal laser is still yet efficient enough to be implemented into space. The distance to cover is too long for the current prototypes. However, with support of both Oscalantine and Isis Rakael, such technology is most likely within our grasp. Nexus Incorporated have been long waiting for the chance to gain support even greater than Oscalantine in order to sate our ambitions on thermal laser projects. Can we expect Isis Rakael’s support?”
Miss Kim was certainly proposing a bold deal. Joint space and space weaponization project will be a long-term investment for both nations as well as several companies. It would mean that two companies will have to stay in good relations for a while, to make sure that the project is fruitful. However, this also indicated that Oscalantine will have little incentive to fear Isis Rakael, since at least for a good half a decade Isis Rakael will have absolute zero incentive to attack Oscalantine. With that settled, they will be more willing to trade their own military secrets for profit.
It also seemed by the tone of Farnor that he was more or less stalling for the Executor, who was in Ulyanovsk Summit. Perhaps by the time that the joint projects have been discussed… the Executor would be much more interested in the development to screen himself into the cruise to talk about more desecret technologies.

| (OOC: Unintentional to an extent. I came to the sudden realization that the path I was going down could only end one way. I didn't want that. I'm having to change my mind on some things as I go now. I realize that this is a short post, as well, but it should provide enough for you to respond to while I mull things over.)
- "Thermal Laser Technology"
- "IRSA-Nexus Satellites"
Those were the two remaining items left o Mark Lautens' PDA. He wasn't prepared to respond to the offer yet, though. "How are your relations with the Elite Union, Mr. Melcoba?" He asked it bluntly and directed the question to Farnor, who he deemed to wield far more power and sway than he let on. "A rift between Nexus and Rasvidi was mentioned, but if you wouldn't mind elaborating on that subject, I would be extremely grateful. We watched the last war from a distance, I'm afraid, and specific facts are somewhat lacking. I would also like to request that Executor Kwon be present for this conversation. Surely he can pried away from whatever duty it is that he is attending. It would very much be in his best interest to do so. What of the other member nations, however? Gracealona and the Nexians. How are your relations with them? For that matter, what of the GWA? We have heard some unsettling rumors that you are working with the Edesu government over oil reserves. Can you confirm or deny these rumors?" "These might seem trivial matters to you, but to the Rakaelian government and the IRSC in particular, they are matters of great concern. I did not pursue these questions in the beginning in the hopes of starting things off on a lighter foot, but now it comes time to deal with them. Isis Rakael will not interfere in Hiborean affairs. As such, we cannot and will not risk interaction with an aligned nation. By aligned, I refer to being a member nation of either the GWA or the EU. While Oscalantine is not yet officially affiliated with either organization, we are deeply concerned by your dealings with both sides. We will only deal with an independent nation. You must understand our position. To trade or even talk to a nation aligned with eithe the GWA or EU would risk drawing Isis Rakael into international matters. So I ask again, Mr. Melcoba, what is your relationship with the Elite Union and the GWA?" "And where..." he added, "...is Executor Kwon?" Lautens frowned. It was odd that the Executor himself should organize this cruise, invite the Rakaelians, then not show up himself. There was something happening behind the scenes. It was a feeling that he couldn't shake.

| Every Oscalantine delegation looked at Farnor with worried look. Farnor’s face, which did not betray any emotion, was finally creased in the foreheads, clearly an indication of vexation. It wasn’t like Farnor to show openly his emotion, and when he did so he wasn’t slightly annoyed. He was probably angered. There was nothing good coming from angering Farnor… as things were, Farnor wasn’t a figure to be messing around with.
Immediately realizing the situation, Miss Kim tried to step in and change the subject: “My, my. We are getting so far out of subject. The Executor is currently out in a business trip. I assure you that he sends his good regards, and we are fit to negotiate with Isis Rakael in any means necessary. We just did not foresee the stealth submarine technology to be popping up in the talks, I am sorry that was did not notice your nation’s interest in the technology, but –“
“Thank you, Miss Kim,” Farnor said, interrupting Miss Kim, “that is quite enough.”
“Mr. Lautens, you keep asking for Executor Kwon. I understand that you wish to meet him, but at the same time, I must ask: where is President Iroh?” Farnor continued, “My friend, are you trying to subjugate us as inferiors? We are here in the summit as equal partners. We are not here to set who is superior or inferior. If President Iroh has no interest in coming into the meeting himself, why must our top figurehead show interest in personally arriving in the summit?”
“You wished to know where the Executor is, and I shall answer: he is currently attention Ulyanovsk Summit in Rasvidi. He was personally invited by the Chariman AND Vice Chairwoman of Rasvidi, and President of Gracealona was also thrilled to attend the meeting.”
“However, the Executor wanted to come to the cruise. He confided me that he will send a delegation worthy of attendance, but he wished to come here. Why? Because he wanted so much to meet President Iroh. However, I convinced him otherwise. Oscalantine will anger the EU when we send a delegation lesser than the Executor, and by doing so, effectively destroy the market in EU. That was more important factor that establishing a market in Isis Rakael.”
“However, the Executor still insisted that he will be in the cruise. He was the one that invited Isis Rakael, and he shall greet them. He wanted to personally meet President Iroh and his delegation in order to greet the mighty nation back into the world.”
“Therefore, I suggested this: ‘what if I went to the cruise?’ I am only man above the Executor in political body, and he will be free to attend EU without offending either of the parties. The Executor was worried at my health, but I insisted that I shall attend to President Iroh with great care. He yielded, knowing that perhaps he was not fit to greet the leader of the powerful nation such as Isis Rakael.”
“You ask my relationship with GWA and EU? I shall answer: I AM Oscalantine. My relationship with GWA and EU is Oscalantine’s relationship with GWA and EU. Oscalantine lives or dies at my flick of finger, and Oscalantine will move at my command. My order is absolute. No one can defy me in Oscalantine. That is my relationship with GWA and EU. I am the head of the Melcoba Family that has deep roots with every company in the world. I have several stocks large enough that if I was to sell these stocks, I can plummet any company into bankruptcy.”
“You are in my audience, the one that controls Oscalantine, the one that controls Nexus Inc, Rhombiom Corporation, Dazz Group, and countless others. If Thomas Lindback wasn’t careful with his stocks, I would be in command of Lindback as well. You could not be in the better hospitality in Oscalantine. You have been given all the Oscalantine’s security, the culture, and the magnificence. This cruise is priceless piece of art that can be hijacked and sold for an entire country. All three of the stealth submarines are here protecting it. A good number of the navy of Oscalantine, risking threats at homeland, are here protecting us. But more importantly, I, the one that commands a nation and companies, am here. You have all that Oscalantine has to offer, and you have been given the best hospitality that any nation has ever received from Oscalantine, and yet you still complain about not having enough.”
Farnor closed his eyes and calmed himself before continuing.
“If I were to call the Executor, that would bring great shame to my nation. I will warn you right here and right now, friend, you are overstepping your bounds. Isis Rakael is vast, and Oscalantine will have no reason to fight Isis Rakael. However, we are not as trivial and insignificant as you are letting on. We have no reason to bow our heads to Isis Rakael, and we have no reasons to humble ourselves to Isis Rakael. You have been demanding like a superior this whole time, requesting this and that, while giving us insignificant amounts in return. I have been, for the most part, agreeing with you. You offers, regardless of how they were presented, were good. I shall admit that you are generous superiors… if we were inferiors.”
“However, your demand for stealth submarines… and your demand for the Executor is gone too far. If I may say so, I have grown impatient. It isn’t you who should be demanding the Executor. It is I that should be demanding attention of President Iroh. Yet I have not. I have been patient and listening. I have been wishing to live by the expectation of the Executor, who have been urging over and over again to be sure to be in good conditions with Isis Rakael.”
“’Isis Rakael is future of Oscalantine,’ he would say, ‘Isis Rakael is the country that I would count on the most. They have loyalty, power, economy, and all resources that no other nation could possibly offer.’ He urged me to make sure to not to anger Isis Rakael. However, I cannot take this superior attitude any longer!”
“I would humbly request that we shall not discuss the whereabouts of the Executor and the subject of stealth submarines any longer. I shall no longer stop you if you are to leave: my patience have grown thin, and it seems that Isis Rakael wasn’t as civilized as I was let on to believe by the Executor.” Farnor concluded.
The other delegations were worried about what was happening. Farnor was one thing, but their opinions were differing. They did not wish for Farnor to offend Isis Rakael… but Farnor was right… they did feel like they were looked down upon. However, they still believed that the Executor was right, and that Isis Rakael was a civilized nation with a few slip-ups, and never meant to offend Oscalantine in such a way.

| "We are civil to those who merit it."
Mark Lautens glared at Farnor, unwilling to flinch at the words spoken.
"You bring a fleet of warships and a host of men arrayed as if for war. You posture and boast of the power you wield and you dare to speak down to me as if I were your servant. The air of superiority that you perceive, Mr. Melcoba, is your own. We have made no such boasts. Where you bring a fleet, we bring but two escorts. Where you bring a host, we bring but a dozen men. Tell me, Mr. Melcoba, who displays blatant superiority?"
"You are quick to trade and make concession, but you dare condemn me for asking the questions that need to be asked for the security of a nation? Would you not ask the very questions were you in my position? Trade is well for all, but it cannot be made at the expense of the people. Perhaps you do not recognize that. Perhaps your life as a businessman has blinded you from what it is to run a nation that is not solely concerned with its profit."
He had already crossed the line, or so he had been told, and so he saw little reason to attempt to step back behind it. Things were going downhill quickly. It was a gamble, but perhaps he could make Farnor see the error of this thinking.
"You condemn me for asking for the Executor, but you give me little reason not to. No one here seems willing or able to provide the answers that we seek. If you wield the authority and power that you so claim to have, then stop posturing and provide them! I complain about nothing. I merely ask for the means to attain the information that is vital to our nation and to the end result of this summit. If such an action is condemnable, then all is already lost and there is no reason to continue. But where I seek for answers that you cannot or will not provide, what purpose have you for meeting with President Iroh? He can offer no more answers than I can. He attends to the affairs of his nation and of his people and cannot be here in person. His presence is not needed. The Executor's, apparently, is."
"Let's move to the issue of trade. You say we ask much, but offer little. How so? We offer what is desperately needed and ask in return only that which is equal in value. Resources for the means to obtain it. One secret for another. Things equal in value. Without one, the other does not occur... at least not quickly. I do not go too far. I do not overstep any bounds by making demands on military technology for the purpose of preservation. But still you say that we look down to you. Again, I ask, how?"
"You perceive what does not exist, Mr. Melcoba, but I'm afraid your views have struck too deeply. Your mind is clouded. We came to this summit as an act of good will and friendship, not to threaten or posture. But that is what we have received! We will not deal with Oscalantine. We will return home and mind our own affairs once more."
A murmuring arose from Lautens' table as the CEOs and lesser diplomats and business officials talked amongst themselves, discussing what was just said and what was going to happen. Mark sighed heavily and shook his head. This was not how things were supposed to progress. His intent was only to learn the political standings between Oscalantine and the EU and GWA to determine how best to approach the matter of trade. This was the result. Perhaps it was best, however. The less interaction between Isis Rakael and Hiborean nations, the better. Still, it was a sad affair, and Lautens couldn't help but be disappointed.
He sat for a moment longer, then stood up.
"Perhaps in time we will speak again."
He added this with the hope that communication would not wholely cease, but left it up to the Oscalantine powers. He motioned for the rest of his party to follow and made for the door.

| Farnor kept his seat, while everyone else stood up. There was no helping it: Farnor had said his last, and leaders of both parties were offended. There seem to be little way to continue the negotiation.
Farnor regained his emotions, though, as he seemed more or less acknowledging his defeat. There was once a time when Farnor did not lose his calm in such manners. He was a cool, level-headed businessman that could negotiate tens of companies to join its ranks to create Melcoba Alliance. Through him, Oscalantine was born, and with his guidance Oscalantine prospered. However, that was the past. Farnor, for the first time in a long time, realized how old he was. He was tired, grumpy, and arrogant. Yes, arrogant. He has grown used to his position of power, and has grown to become arrogant and prideful. He has become… inefficient.
Farnor noticed that this meeting with Isis Rakael was not meant to be. Executor Nate had to be there, formally requesting President Iroh into the place. While Farnor had the power, he did not have the authority. He forewent his political weight for political swiftness, and he was paying the ultimate price. Regardless, Mr. Lautens had every right to be angry as well. Both nations were headstrong, and that wasn’t going to help. If Executor Nate was here… things would have been different. Mr. Lautens was right: the Executor needed to be here to oversee and coax the beast that is Isis Rakael.
However, Isis Rakael did something that Farnor did not wish to forgive. For that, he shall tell his share. Farnor stood up for the first time in the entire meeting.
“Mr. Lautens, I bid you farewell, but not without a word of warning.” Farnor said, “Your country needs to understand something that is Oscalantine. Please tell yourself as well as the President of this fact… for the betterment of future meetings, if such will take place.”
“Oscalantine’s government system is highly centralized. It is to the point of fault. It is our greatest strength and weakness.” Farnor continued, “Death of one major official would mean that chaos will reign on Oscalantine until the power vacuum is filled. While we can execute our ideals far faster and can move in much more efficient manner than any other countries due to our lack of checks and balances, we have created a dangerous system where we cannot afford to lose our major government officials. It is a price to pay for being efficient.”
“Therefore, Oscalantine does everything in its power to protect these officials. The amount of guards accompanying the head official indicates just how much power that the official wields. Therefore, the more guards that have arrived with the official would indicate how much Oscalantine is respecting and admiring the nation that the official is meeting. Guards have become a sort of ceremonial, serving little purpose but to symbolize the weight of the official. Another purpose that the guards serve, of course, is how much threat that we feel by the nation. However, this is offset by the fact that we do not send an important official to hostile territories.”
“Oscalantine have honored, you, Mr. Lautens, by sending me along with our best soldiers and naval fleet. No other nation has ever received such treatment. Not when the combined attention of EU, not even the combined attention of entire Hiborea. Oscalantine truly honored your nation by taking the risk of sending me. Therefore, it is an insult of us to believe that you find threat in our good-will and demand more attention.”
“However, I was wrong as well. And for that, I apologize. I should have realized that such notion was unknown to Isis Rakael, who has been away from Hiborea for the majority of Oscalantine’s birth. I also apologize that I have made my speeches seem like Isis Rakael was demanding the things that was fair. It was wrong of me to think so… at least in parts. I still cannot and will not approve of stealth submarine technology in the hands of unknown nations who we have no trade relations with. However, for other aspects, I hope you can forgive an old man who have lost his strength in pride.”
With that, Farnor Melcoba bowed low to Mr. Lautens and the delegations. Other delegations bowed as well, although Miss Kim was noticeably bowing less than others.
“Please go in good faith. We harbor no ill-will against Isis Rakael, and I beg you to do the same for our Executor. He was not here because of reasons. I believe that I could lead the summit myself. However, it is obvious that I was wrong. Perhaps there will come a time once more that the delegation can meet again for the mutual benefit of both nations. We thank you for your time, and we appreciate your patronage.” Farnor concluded.
With that the Oscalantine delegation sat down to discuss amongst themselves. Oscalantine seems to mourn for the loss of the business partner, but Miss Kim seems to harbor little concern. While other delegations were busy discussing how this impact will affect their stocks, Miss Kim was quietly conversing on the phone with someone… most likely the Executor.
Farnor Melcoba seems to be calm as well. He was indeed upset, but creases on his forehead only indicated his age, not is discomfort. Farnor thought well and hard… as if he was readying himself to make a big announcement to the world that could shake Oscalantine in its foundations.
