TO: Executor Nathaniel Kwon
FROM: The United People's Republic of Rasvidi

Greetings, comrade. We are aware of a growing rift between the Elite Union and Oscalantine, and more specifically a growing rift with Rasvidi. It is because of our actions and inactions that have led to such a degradation of our previously amiable diplomatic ties, and we hope to rectify that. We understand that the media has portrayed us in a negative light within Oscalantine during the invasion of Hijjma. We also understand that our previous demands were not well received.

More alarmingly, we have become aware of a growing influence from Edo Edi Essum and the Great Western Alliance in your nation. While your people and government are free to choose how they will develop, we do ask that you give us a chance to redeem ourselves. We will not apologize for our decisions during the war, but we will apologize for any upset those decisions have created. Our intent was not to betray Oscalantine, or to threaten it. Our government considers you as friends.

As a result, we are willing to organize a political summit between our two nations in Ulyanovsk. We will organize a banquet and an orchestra performance, and we will discuss issues of mutual political concern as well as potential trade negotiations. As you know, our two economies are very powerful and stand to benefit from one another. We patiently await your reply.

Long Live the Revolution,
Kallevi Jaatinen
Foreign Commissar

TO. The United People’s Republic of Rasvidi
FROM. The Incorporated States of Oscalantine
SUBJECT. The Summit

Upon receiving your message from the Executor, we have been thrilled that the invite was sent to us. The Incorporated States of Oscalantine is ecstatic and delighted to take part in this summit in order to bolster the Ras-Oscal relationships as well as EU at large.

Executor Nathanial has showed personal interest in attending the summit as himself. He will be accompanied by President Samir Ronald of Rhombiom Corporation as well as Mr. Y of Stockholders’ Council. We are looking forward to discussing the economic proceedings as well as the current diplomatic issues that Oscalantine has been suffering with Elite Union.

We again express our gratitude for creating the summit for Oscalantine to get closer to our partners in the east. We in Oscalantine hopes that the Executor and his team can achieve a favorable result with Rasvidi and her allies.

For the Corporation
The Stockholders’ Council,
Department of Foreign Approvals,

Oscalantine took no time to head over to Ulyanovsk. However, due to the conflict with KingIsaac, the arrival was slightly delayed as Oscalantine decided to send their guests up North to Bautizar and back to Rasvidi southward.

When the plane landed safely in the national airport, the Executor, President Ronald, Mr. Y, and eleven Corporate Army members exited from the plane. President Ronald and Mr. Y each had two secretaries with them, while the Executor had no secretaries as Corporate Army could suffice as his own aids. The Corporate Army members this time had Inc30’s Gamma, Epsilon, Zeta, Eta, and Omicron in the bottom 24, accompanied by three lesser-ranked members with various skills in engineering, programming, and infiltration. What was so different about the Corporate Army this time was that they had two of the top 6 members of Inc30: Sir Sampi and Madam Stigma. This was rather rare, as the top 6 guards of Corporate Army was only stationed in Melcoba Manor in order to protect the mansion. What is probably rarer is that Madam Stigma, a Corporate Army member that really does not leave the manor, period, has come. What could this message mean remains to be seen… if this was any news at all.

Oscalantine already had an agenda set:
  • 1. To show the good will of EU and Rasvidi to the population of Oscalantine
  • 2. To establish an territorial agreement in Plot 35
  • 3. To establish a fluent trade line of Titanium as well as FTA with Rasvidi
  • 4. To discuss the diplomatic relations of Oscalantine with EU nations

With those agendas in mind, the officials are, while going to enjoy the days in Ulyanovsk in full, planning on getting the deals stomped out with punctuality. For reasons being that Oscalantine was really pushing for time trying to establish a footing in the diplomatic world, and Oscalantine was, like it or not, still under engagement with nation of KingIsaac.

PostSubject: Re: Ulyanovsk Summit   Ulyanovsk Summit EmptyWed Jan 19, 2011 4:56 am

[Sorry for the long wait, my exciting life was being all distracting. Like a jerk. You can come to the summit if you would like, Grace.]

Chairman Väinö Nakashidze, flanked closely by Vice Chairman Yelena Stasova and several armed guards, smiled warmly at Executor Kwon as he stepped off the plane. As he approached, he took his hand and shook it firmly. The guards were expressionless, no opinions written on their faces, looking threatening in their black uniforms. The flag of Rasvidi was adorned on bands wrapped around their upper right arms. In their hands they clutched semiautomatic rifles, the sleek black metal shining brightly. Väinö and Stasova, however, had warm expressions, seemingly oblivious to the intimidating men standing around them.

"Welcome, Comrade Kwon. It is a pleasure to have you here in Rasvidi... we have much entertainment planned for you and your delegation tonight. We are to have a feast in the Kapiteeli building with many people, perhaps even with the President of Gracealona. The Puna Orchestra will be playing as we eat, followed by an Opera performance. You can eat and watch the Opera while we discuss important matters!" The Chairman was grinning broadly, obviously anticipating the evening with positive feelings.

Stasova seemed to have grown frail over the years, however her eyes still sparkled like she was only twenty-something. She had lost some weight, and her hair was almost completely white. She was almost 80 years old, and was currently the oldest person serving in the government. She felt more like 100 these days. But her handshake betrayed her weakened appearance, gripping Kwon's hand with deceptive strength.

"Yes, we are indeed looking forward to discussion with you. If Our Glorious Leader was still around, he would have enjoyed you very much, I imagine. Hopefully our diplomatic rift will prove to be a temporary thing." She smiled, and Väinö seemed to smile weakly at the old woman's outdated use of the term "Glorious Leader". It was a term frequently used by the older generation to refer to former chairman Venedikt Pralnikov. He had led the revolution that founded the nation, and before his death in the North Sea Conflict, had established something of a personality cult amongst the public.

The two politicians began to lead the way to the Kapiteeli building, the guards as intimidating as ever.

PostSubject: Re: Ulyanovsk Summit   Ulyanovsk Summit EmptyWed Jan 19, 2011 7:41 pm

A small sleek passenger jet landed in Ulyanovsk and quickly taxied off the runway. Painted on its fuselage was the Gracealonian flag and the seal of the Secretary of State. Although the aircraft appeared like any other business jet on the outside it hid many weapons detection and avoidance systems underneath its skin along with a completely custom interior. As soon as the jet came to a stop the door opened and the stairs dropped down, two men in plain suits walked down first and did a quick sweep of the area. As soon as they found the tarmac was all clear they returned to the plane and escorted out Robert Lanham, the Gracealonian Secretary of State. He gave a quick salute to the pilot and then descended the stairs followed by his aid and two more guards. The four guards flanked the secretary and his aid. Unlike the Rasvidian guards these men were dressed plainly and carried only handguns. The six people quickly climbed into an SUV that drove them to the Kapiteeli building.

When they arrived Lanham stepped forward and shook the hands of Executor Kwon, Vice Chairman Stasova and Chairman Nakashidze. With a smile he said

“Good Afternoon my friends. I know you may have been expecting President Carlton but obviously though he can’t attend every diplomatic event. I mean he has a country to run I suppose. I guess that’s why he hired me though right?” He smiled after saying this as it was meant to be a small piece of humor. Lanham had always been known as a friendly man, but still very serious when he needed to be. Seeing no response from the people in front of him, he continued “Regardless though, the President sends his regards to both of you and has granted me full diplomatic authority on this matter. We hope to improve Gracealona’s and the EU’s relations with Oscalantine as well. Shall we go inside?” Trying to be friendly with delegation from the other nations he tried to start some small talk. “To be frank I’ve never been to an opera, they aren’t very popular in Gracealona. I’m interested to see one while enjoying what I’m sure will be a delicious meal.” With that he entered the building followed by his aid and guards.

Ulyanovsk Summit Empty
PostSubject: Re: Ulyanovsk Summit   Ulyanovsk Summit EmptyFri Jan 21, 2011 12:48 am

Executor Nathanial Nestor Kwon was… in all intents and purposes, a man that was ill-suited for the political world. He lacked… the “poker face”… that seemingly emotionless expression that most politicians would take. All his smiles seemed genuine, and all his frowns, discontents, and sometimes even anger showed directly in his face. In short, he was easily readable.

However, the Executor was cunning man that was fit to lead the business world. He knew what he had, and used it as an advantage instead of weakness. His emotions openly betrayed him, and it was used with great success to get others to go with his plans without ever needing to speak to them. He let his body gestures to that, not his speech.

However, such instance was only in the hostile political world. When the Executor saw the Rasvidi’s Chair and Vice Chairperson, his face showed a sort of fan obsession towards a celebrity. The Executor eagerly shook the hands of both the Chairperson and Vice Chairperson of the Rasvidi, which probably earned him eye-rolls and sighs from the Corporate Army. Well… Madam Stigma was more or less giggling about the issue than being in disbelief, but Madam Stigma was rather hard person to displease.

“Mr. Nakashidze! I am thrilled to meet you! Your policies and speeches are inspiration for my political agendas! I am so glad that I was able to come to meet you! Oh and Ms. Stasova! You are my heroine! I must have your autograph signed in my jets! I insist!” the Executor exclaimed enthusiastically as he shook both of their hands.

“Executor,” Madam Stigma said suddenly, “there are reports that you need to see.”

The Executor turned his head slightly and addressed Madam Stigma: “I see. We’ll discuss as we go.”

“Regardless, I cannot tell you how thrilled I am to be here! Thank you for your greeting, Mr. Nakashidze and Ms. Stasova! I am honored.” The Executor bowed his head in courtesy to both of them before retreating a step back.

The Executor was solemn when there was talk of the “Our Glorious Leader.” The Executor did unusual thing: he turned to the North Sea, clocked his head downward, and closed his eyes and silently prayed for the losses of the previous Chairman. The Executor once met with the chairman when he was still training to lead the Oscalantine, and although he wasn’t particularly acquainted with the chairman, the Executor still respected him and was shocked at his death. He mourned silently for the forgotten leader, and then moved on along with the two Chairpersons, eager to see what Rasvidi has planned for him.

The Corporate Army seemed a little passive. They were not as nearly in intimidating stands. However, the Black Figurines with smooth masks were plenty mysterious enough. The passive, rather lax Corporate Army seemed to be due to how many high ranked officials were there. They were more or less confident that they will be able to protect the Executor if there was trouble. However, what really gave them such a confidence is not of their own, but from Sir Sampi and Madam Stigma’s skills. The top6 of the Inc30 were hand-selected by Farnor and Melcoba Family and approved by the Executor. In other words, they were the elite of the elites. The Corporate Army were confident that their skills would be able to get the Executor out of tricky situation if such cases were to rise… and there was always a thread of hope that Rasvidi considered well of Oscalantine.

The entire guard as well as corporate reps. towards the Kapiteeli Building. Contrary to the fanatical greeting, Miss Kim and President Ronald seemed to be rather reserved, and Mr. Y was more or less interested in sightseeing than anything. The Executor was quietly conversing with Madam Stigma, who seemed to be a little too friendly with the Executor to be just his guard.

Once they arrived at the building, the Executor eagerly shook hands with Gracealona’s representative. The Executor seemed to be all too happy to have Gracealona’s attention as well.

“Ah, the nations of EU really honor me. I have never expected the Chairman and Vice Chairman of Rasvidi to arrive, and yet they are here personally to greet me. Gracealona has even sent her delegate to the summit that they need not be here from! I am truly honored. You are spoiling the child, sirs and ma’am. I am all too much in awe.” The Executor said as he shook the Secretary of State’s hands.

“Mr. Lanham, I am Sir Omicron of the Corporate Army, but if I may speak as a representative of the NNN, are you in liberty to speak for the media of Gracealona as well?” Sir Omicron, who was also one of three founders of NNN, spoke to Secretary of State. Of course, he was hopelessly out of order in this particular case, but he had media reporter roots, and the Executor seemed to not care about the order at all. That, of course, did not stop Sir Gamma from head-locking Omicron and taking him away. Only then did the Executor smile, as if he wanted Sir Omicron to leave but couldn’t find a right word to say it with.

“If you have yet to notice, Mr. Lanham, Oscalantine media is thrilled about Gracealona’s fashions. Your country’s movies are always first ones to run out of tickets and your celebrities’ live shows have become a sort of luxury in Oscalantine due to the limited number of seats. Last time I checked, there was vacation agency that was dedicated in going to Gracealona to visit all the celebrities in their concerts. I am guilty of going into one concert or two myself.” The Executor said apologetically.

“I, too, am excited for this meeting. I am thrilled and honored to be amongst the two superpowers of the region! Please, let us continue. I have so much to discuss!” The Executor said with joy as he was eager to partake in the summit.

Ulyanovsk Summit Empty
PostSubject: Re: Ulyanovsk Summit   Ulyanovsk Summit EmptyMon Jan 24, 2011 3:53 pm

[Man, I am unreliable lol]

As they made their way inside the Kapiteeli building, the immense history and age of the structure became clear. Although the stone and marble that composed most of the building was reflective, polished, and spotless, there were numerous cracks and fractures that ran across the walls and ceilings. The main hallway reached several stories up, lined by marble columns that were frequently missing their upper halves. Intricate and beautiful artwork adorned the ceilings, hundreds of years old and depicting famous battles and historical events from the region's deep past. Intricate patterns adorned the high granite and marble walls every so often, frequently inlaid with gold. The floor and lower portions of the walls seemed positively ancient, composed of stone worn smooth by time and polished to match the marble and granite seen elsewhere. It was clear that this building had been reworked and added to over time, with materials changing subtly through the height of the main hall reflecting various historical styles and available resources. Moss and vines clung to many of the columns and hung from the ceiling.

Despite the aged appearance, however, it was clear the building was constantly maintained. Every surface was polished heavily, being able to see your face with ease. There was no litter to be seen, and everything was well lit by gentle lighting. The hall seemed lengthy and went on for dozens, if not hundreds, of meters. Entrances and doorways of various sizes punctuated the walls, some leading to smaller halls and others leading to grand rooms. As they made their way to the banquet hall, they passed the entrance to the federal chambers. Not much could be made through the doorway, which extended two stories high, but it seemed to be an immense circular room with seating facing the center. The floor of the room gradually descended to a small circular area in the middle, which held a high central podium and two lower podiums on each side. Behind the podiums was an area of seating that rose above the rest of the room, possibly for the Chairman and his cabinet. There were a handful people sitting at various spots throughout the room, with a man giving some kind of speech at one of the lower podiums.

Finally they made it to the banquet hall, after nearly 10 minutes of walking. Above the entrance was engraved a phrase, written in the Saamic alphabet:

"«Хэн, ёка еи наути ыхтиён миес таи наинен, хывэ шов, таи хумаласса еи оле луоттамиста» - Яника Ваиник"

Yelena Stasova leaned over to the foreign dignitaries to explain it's meaning. "This is a famous quote from Janika Vainik, a poet and philosopher from the 13th century. It says, He who does not enjoy the company of a man or woman, a good show, or being drunk is not to be trusted." Stasova smiled at the saying, before becoming more serious, "She was eventually executed by the Commonwealth for heathenry. She had always been secular, but later in her life had become an atheist." Väinö nodded solemnly as they continued into the hall.

The noise was thundering when they came in. There were hundreds of people, all seated in descending rows that were arranged in a semi-circle around a stage. Spanning between each aisle, in front of the seats, were long marble tables with various foods and beverages spread about them. Each table had various roasted body parts and organs from Yak and smaller animals, with ample wine in very large vessels that sat in depressions within the tables. There was also plenty yak milk at the tables, with some people sporting milk moustaches without noticing. The lighting was dim, and on the stage played the Orchestra, the music somehow floating above the noise in the hall. Lights placed around the stage lit up the musicians and the conductor, making them easy to see.

The Chairman led the way to their seats, situated in an elevated platform above the rest of the crowd. On the tables were more traditional Rasvidi foods, such as roast Yak and Hare, various fish pies, porridge, shortbread, biscuits, gravy, wine, milk, water, and more. Accompanying these dishes were more traditional foods from Gracealona and from Oscalantine, to better suit the tastes of the guests. The area was more lounge-like then the rest of the hall, and was enclosed in sound proof glass. Speakers mounted throughout the room provided flawless sound from the stage with minimal noise from the crowds below.

"Enjoy the meal, comrades! Feel free to eat and talk throughout the performance. It is considered a sign of respect for the actors here in Rasvidi for the audience to be enjoying themselves during an event. A quiet audience is an unhappy, unsatisfied audience." The Chairman motioned for them to take a seat, before taking one himself next to the head of the Yak. The top of it's skull had been cut off, revealing a brain that had been steamed and ready for consumption. As he took a bite using a spoon, Stasova addressed Lanham and Kwon.

"So I'm sure you know why you have come here, gentlemen. Relations between Oscalantine and the EU have been hurt since the Hijjma war, and Rasvidi wishes to repair this, as do our Gracealona comrades.

Rasvidi in particular would like to offer assistance to Oscalantine. We apologize for our abrupt or harsh request to offer political and media assistance to your nation. We are willing to modify the offer. We would provide media and political scientists to your nation, and all we ask in return is that you apply to membership of the EU. Your approval would go up, as would the approval of Rasvidi, thanks to our assistance.

If that is still unacceptable, then we are at least willing to provide aid to Oscalantine's more impoverished population. This would have a similar effect, boosting approval amongst your lower class. We are willing to divert as much as three billion Reichsmarks from our Commerce budget to this endeavour."

Ulyanovsk Summit Empty
PostSubject: Re: Ulyanovsk Summit   Ulyanovsk Summit EmptySat Jan 29, 2011 6:37 am

[[So sorry for the late response... hopefully I haven't made anyone bore themselves to death.... T^T]]

“Huh, I never thought I would see triple-layered stuffed potatoes in Rasvidi.” The Executor said, looking at the traditional dish of USI as he sat, “This is a wonderful atmosphere. It is so much different from Oscalantine, where things are usually quiet.”

The Executor was always fond of Rasvidi in terms of a nation. Oscalantine in general conceived its idea of revolutionary doctrine from Rasvidi’s history. Although the government that they seek was different, Oscalantine always held a deep sentiment towards Rasvidi when it came down to history. Executor Nate was no different. In fact, he had a bit more sentiment than the rest. He frequently visited cities in Rasvidi prior to becoming the Executor of Oscalantine, and he certainly enjoyed the historical monuments thoroughly. One thing that he disliked about Rasvidi was that he did not have enough time to learn to understand the language… and oddly enough, that was one of several reasons that he wanted to quite his occupation as the Executor of Oscalantine… well, that wasn’t going to happen anytime soon.

Oscalantine’s dishes were primarily potato-related foodstuffs, with occasional beef. Unlike southern nations, in the past of Oscalantine’s regions, when USI’s isolationistic policies were in effect, the people could grow little but potatoes, the most staple agriculture that can be sustained over a rough, mountainous, and rather cold climate. There was agriculture in the coastal areas, where things were a bit warmer, but due to USI’s taxation, many of the agricultures went to the wealthy, with very little going to the poor in the northern sides. The situation improved with USI’s agricultural revolution, where the 150th USI president establishing link with outside world in order to provide better agricultural tools as well as better technique to the people in the region, but the regional favorite dish was already set in stones with potatoes. In fact, potatoes were the only agricultural product that was not imported in any way from any nations. Oscalantine was proud of its potatoes, and any other, non-Oscalantine potatoes did not seem to fit the taste of the citizens. Therefore, Oscalantine invests roughly about 1% of its government budget into potato industry to keep the agriculture going of Oscalantine’s potatoes… which Dazz has all but completely dominated the market of.

The Executor took his seat and wondered what the Corporate Army was doing. Seeing as the Rasvidi guards were waiting outside, the Executor instructed as such for his own guards. They will be able to communicate with him if necessary, but he did not wish to foul the mood of the summit. It seemed so casual and uplifting, which Executor Nate wished for. However, he could not dismiss the pang of guilt about enjoying the food himself. He will probably have to give them bonus salary… or maybe points… when the summit was over.

“Oscalantine’s population is very much like a spoilt child,” the Executor said as he lowered his head in apology towards other delegates, “they knew their power of media, and they use it as such to their advantage. The current situation occurred because of my lack of response to the conflict in EEE Annex, where EU launched a covert offensive against EEE. While this was correct in all aspects, again, we wish that we could have known the offensive just seconds before it started. If such happened, Oscalantine would’ve been able to immediately cut the coverage of the situation and prevent the media from rolling in this event.”

“However, Oscalantine government in general, which is basically me, do not condemn EU for their actions. As long as I am in office, Oscalantine will continue to show support for EU and its allies.”

“What does concern me, however,” the Executor said as he eyed various yak organs with interest, “is that there has been a stir in the government and other parts of Oscalantine. I wished to share that. I would appreciate the support that the EU can offer in these areas. If these could be taken as positive, this could also help to mend EU-Oscal relationship.”

“Currently Oscalantine’s population is divided into… I would say three: EEE, Rasvidi, and Gracealona.” The Exeuctor said as he finally caved in and took a rib of a yak and forked out the bones, “The scholars and educated individuals appreciate and respect Rasvidi’s history, and many of the art collectors in our region values Rasvidi’s arts, especially those that have been painted during the revolutionary era, as highest in value. Meanwhile, Greacealona has her appeal from the teens of middle to upper classes. The celebrities of Gracealona have strong hold on Oscalantine, and their live concerts sells out in tickets weeks before the actual concert happens.”

“You can say, therefore, that effective portion of Oscalantine still respects EU. However,” the Executor continued as he managed to separate all the bones of the rib from its meat, “the problem is the church. Vast amount of religious factions of Oscalantine comes from EEE’s zealous priests. The Missionary movements happened before the conception of Oscalantine itself, so there are various pro-EEE cults that are loyal to the church of EEE. That will never change, even if we ban religion. Things are too late for that.”

“This is the reason why Oscalantine shows continual support to EEE: I risk losing my head as well as my office if I chose otherwise. As you know, the Church of Purity, the largest pro-EEE cult in Oscalantine, boasts over 30% of the Oscalantine’s population converts. Although they are usually the lower classes of Oscalantine, there are some that are higher in the Oscalantine, like several members of Rhombiom Corporation’s major stockholders. Rhombiom Corporation investing massive capital into EEE is no coincidence: should Rhombiom Corporation come further into power, Oscalantine will continue more pro-EEE policies.”

“The major problem is that in Oscalantine, it is profitable for the government to support the poor, and thus there are little people that actually are on the brick of starvation.” The Executor continued as he chewed on a forkful of rib meat, “I say only about 2% of the population, tops, is off on our radar, and those are native tribes of Silios and rural region’s people. They usually support themselves with consistent farming and care not for the government. We let them be for the most part: their children come to us when they are old enough. What is the worrisome is that the Church of Purity has great support from the class that is usually unreachable from the reform. This is added with a fact that the church has its roots from EEE, and many of its members zealously believe in their church and EEE. I have little faith that they will listen to talks of cash.”

“Rather, I would like EU’s support to prevent the inevitable: to prevent Rhombiom Corporation from taking over Oscalantine. Currently, Nexus Inc is managing much of the policies of Oscalantine, with me being in the CEO position. However, all the things that I have worked on could change in matter of years if Rhombiom takes the CEO position. If such is to happen, I do not know where Oscalantine will head towards. Rhombiom have come a far way since its original conception in the mountains.”

“This could happen in several ways: support Nexus or grow a corporation force in Oscalantine. The choice is entirely up to you, as I do not mind either way. To be honest, Nexus Incorporated has been taken aback by the EU’s policies and alienation. They have been slowly taking back their investments in major EU projects. This is probably why Nexus have not yet answered back Rasvidi’s calls in space project and why they have yet to make a formal statement about EUREP. They wish to be more conservative in dealings with EU, as they do not know what to believe in anymore. This is probably the reason why Miss Kim is not with us: Nexus Inc stockholders are more or less interesting in investing in other markets than EU at the current times. Effectively, Nexus is planning on distributing their resources to other parts in order to back out of EU reliance completely.”

“While it isn’t too late to regain their confidence, the cost and effort would be similar to creating another company of EU origin and inserting it into Oscalantine. While they will not have strong bonds with other companies, and therefore will need protection, they can quickly fill in the spot that Lindback Corporation has left as they have gone to Isis Rakael. They should be gaining membership status along with Dazz Group if EU puts their support in the company, and can slowly obtain the support of the public through employing Oscalantine population. By doing so, you can freely partake in Oscalantine policies, and eventually reach a point where you can create a candidate for Oscalantine’s CEO position. You can be assured that as long as it is from Rasvidi, I will be treating him like a brother of mine, as the late chairman did with me.” The Executor said as he fell in a moment of silence to mourn for the late chairman of Rasvid.

“I must urge you, however, to take your steps cautiously and quickly. Dazz Group is always on the move, and they are looking to expand to where Lindback have left. If they do so, you will lack a foothold in Oscalantine. Equally, Nexus Inc’s stockholders have yet to meet in an annual meeting to decide on the budget this year. If you act quickly, EU could make Nexus Inc’s stockholders rethink their choice of backing out of EU.”

“The choice is entirely EU’s: I am good either way, as I have been rather distant with Nexus lately in terms of what has been going on. As you probably have assumed, Oscalantine finally got some patriotism, and they have been saying that I am an EU puppet anyways. It won’t be so bad as to solidify their assumptions. Or I can be proven right and EU can help me to reassert my position. Regardless, I have enough support and connection left to stay in Oscalantine’s CEO position for another good decade, which is probably long enough for EU to grow their own candidate into office.”

The Executor left a tricky riddle, but he did not think so. As logically as possible, the Executor merely stated that there were two possibilities in solving this anti-EU sentiment that has grown in Oscalantine. They were both rather radical, but for a radical country, radical measures must be done to earn any type of change. Either will probably cost EU as much as the welfare program that they were considering. And at the end of the day, whichever choice that EU has made, they will have sort of saying in Oscalantine.

As the Executor started to dig into his ribs, he got an e-mail from his Grainia S, the latest SmartPhone from Nexus Inc. He touched on it to read the message, diverting his attention away from the EU delegations to discuss as they wished.

Ulyanovsk Summit Empty
PostSubject: Re: Ulyanovsk Summit   Ulyanovsk Summit EmptyThu Feb 10, 2011 1:09 pm

[Hmmm... sort of disappointed there wasn't more roleplay elsewhere while I was afk, lol]

Yelena Stasova sat quietly as she thought over the words of the Executor; Väinö, on the other hand, continued to stuff his face with yak brains and yak milk. It wasn't that he wasn't listening, it was just that he was too focused on his meal. It was almost a stereotype for Rasvidi men to be so into their food, and most invariably had large appetites. Waistlines that hung over belt buckles were not an uncommon sight, although very few people were actually large enough to be considered obese. Rural types were also less hefty then their urban brethren, and those from the colonies frequently looked like they didn't eat at all. The government always blamed it on poor arability of the islands, but the local populations felt that the mainland was to blame.

Regardless, Stasova was the first to speak. The stated costs of swaying the Oscalantine people were not trivial. The governments of the EU would have to basically prop up an entire corporation and then maintain it's costs. Probably without an immediate or tangible return of investment. The Vice Chairman felt that her country would support this, but for the plan to work it had to be seen as a joint EU venture. Whether or not the other countries would support such an endeavour, especially since one of them was absent, was a tough call to make. She turned to face her Gracealonan counterpart.

"Well, what do you think, sir? Rasvidi is willing to set up this corporation on it's own, but in order for this plan to succeed without a hitch, we need support from at least a majority of the Elite Union nations. Rasvidi, after all, is not the sole spokesman for this alliance. We propose that Rasvidi cover roughly two thirds of the costs, and the rest can be left up to Gracealona and NX401.

"We would also need to determine an industry for this corporation. If Rasvidi is to foot most of the costs, we suggest that the corporation be involved in the Rubber industry. It would have the added benefit of generating artificial competition with existing rubber markets, generating further income for those involved. Again, though, for this to be seen as an EU move, at least a majority of nations needs to become involved. Are you willing to afford the expense?"

Without looking up or acknowledging anyone, the Chairman addressed the Executor through a mouthful of brain matter. "How much would we need to- woops, sorry if I got food on you- how much would we need to invest for this corporation to be in a competitive league with your other major corporations? How much would it need to be worth?"

The orchestra music over the speakers suddenly died out, and after some commotion a crisp male voice resonated over the room; "Comrades and suffragettes, hands together for the exquisite performance by the Puna Orchestra tonight." A roar of applause, and the audience could be seen holding up their glasses to the stage giving cheers and pouring some liquid on the floor. "And without further distraction, I shall present to you the East Ulyanovsk Theatre performing the opera masterpiece, 'Wolves at Sea'. Enjoy the performance, and a nod to the international guests in the VIP box tonight dining with our very own Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Revolutionary Council!" More cheering as the announcer walked off the stage. The lights dimmed, and the curtains drew back. A hefty looking woman wielding a bloodied sword began to belt out a rich, deep serenade depicting a battle as it played out on stage.

PostSubject: Re: Ulyanovsk Summit   Ulyanovsk Summit EmptySat Feb 12, 2011 6:20 pm

Lanham sat there quietly considering what was being said while occasionally glancing at the performance taking place on the stage. When the Vice Chairman asked him his opinion he thought for a moment and responded.
"Well, obviously having a member corporation under our control inserted in the Oscalantine government would be beneficial for us and I support the idea. However there is no way that the Gracealonian government would grant funding to this endeavor. Similar to our separation of church and state we have a separation of business and state. Our stance as a nation and a government is that government should regulate business but otherwise be hands off. This means passing laws that protect consumers and prevent scams and such but otherwise leave business to its own means. We will never bail out failing companies or otherwise provide any taxpayer Lotas to private companies. The only exceptions are government contracts in defense, research, construction and so on. Bottom line though, neither the Gracealonian government nor its people will ever support providing even partial funding for a corporation no matter its purpose, me included. On top of that any slim chance that it would be passed is squashed by the fact that we would see no return on our investment for many years if we ever did at all. The principal idea of this is good but the means of accomplishing it is something Gracealona can't support.

There is an alternative I can think of though, although it wouldn't be as desirable for Rasvidi. Of course companies are always seeking to expand their markets and I'm sure there are Gracealonian companies who would be interested in expanding into the Oscalantine market. The main one that comes to my mind is Horizon Entertainment. Horizon is the largest entertainment company in Gracealona and has reach in virtually every portion of the entertainment industry. This includes owning several TV stations, one of the countries largest movie studios, concert halls and movie theaters all over the country, a few resorts, and even a theme park near Latalia. [OOC: Think Disney and Fox Networks combined minus the ridiculously right wing news network] They even have contracts with some of the nations most famous actors and musicians. Considering the huge popularity of Gracealonian entertainment in Oscalantine they have been seeking to expand into that market for a few years now but haven't yet built up the capital to do so. If Rasvidi were to invest in Horizon's Oscalantine venture it could begun immediately and proceed at a much higher rate. Obviously the USG government couldn't invest in Horizon either but our portion of the venture would come through our nations citizens spending into Horizon that is already established. I have no doubt that if Horizon were to gain a foothold in Oscalantine their growth in that market would be exponential. Every penny of those profits would be brought back into the EU as Horizon already has expanded into Rasvidi and NX401 and the growth in the Oscalantine market would gain us influence and support in the nation.

If you don't like that idea though the best we can do is contracting your proposed rubber company to a government contract to provide rubber for use for Gracealnian defenses like the army, navy and air force as well as our space program. Of course that money would only be a tiny sliver of the Rasvidi rubber companies yearly profits. "

PostSubject: Re: Ulyanovsk Summit   Ulyanovsk Summit EmptySun Feb 13, 2011 10:50 am

“Nate? This is Nia.”

“Oh, good evening. What a fine day to be spending, no?” Nate responded, “I hope you are enjoying Farnor’s cruise. It is a real shame that I could not make it, but I’m sure Mr. Lautens would understand.”

“Actually…” Nia hesitated.

“Hmm? That ‘actually…’ doesn’t sound so happy for someone who won multi-million dollar trade deal.” Nate questioned.

“Things didn’t go as expected. Farnor lost his cool, and things did not work out as you and I wished. Nexus might be suffering huge losses…”

“Ah,” Nate said, finally grasping the situation, “Well, aren’t we glad that we always have plan B? Contact the Imperial Overlord military specialists as planned. I’ll see what I can do for Nexus on this end. Are you certain that this deal will work out as planned?”

“Yes, I am confident that these specialists and researchers have the necessities to construct decent stealth fighters. Perhaps not as powerful as Rakaelian ones, but they will be competitive in the field of battle along with our AA support. They are also bringing with them several battleships, which we could use.”

“Yes, I have been rethinking our policies of completely submerged army with confrontation with HLF. Few battleships to protect our carriers will go a long way to improving our military.”

“I am so sorry, Nate,” Nia said apologetically, “I know that this isn’t what you wanted. Isis Rakael would have proven much better market for Nexus Inc.”

“No worries. This is still within the budget.” Nate said, still feeling optimistic, “Unless Rasvidian officials declare war on Oscalantine, there won’t be any troubles. If anything, they are being so generous. I do hope that NNN can report this. And Nia…”

“Yes, Nate?”

“Tell the NNN to buy off all the small media industry in Oscalantine. There is interesting prospect in making. One that will solve both our problems with Lindback, Rhombiom, and those damn cultists in one fell swoop.”

The Executor was receiving a call from someone when the applause came, he hung up with a short, “wish me luck” before standing up and applauding to the performance. The Executor eagerly cheered on as the announcer retreated and the real performance started. He stood up there to take a good look at the woman before taking a seat. He still seemed completely enthusiastic, as he watched the performance with great eager before managing to tear his sight away from the performer and focusing on the tasks at hand.

“I am sorry for the interruption. Not only do I love the performance, I just like the free atmosphere in this place. I must thank you, Mr. Chairman and Ms. Vice Chairman, for such a wonderful performance tonight. I only wish that I was able to bring someone special with me.” The Executor said as he looked back at the performer before continuing, “Oh and I just got a call back from my officials: it seems like several things in the business world have changed prior to my coming here.”

“However, all the ideas that you have suggested still seems invaluable for Oscalantine, and for that, I am grateful and thankful. I wish that many people in Oscalantine could share in my gratitude… the EU have done so much for Oscalantine, and yet all we respond with is cold shoulders. I must speak with the Stockholders’ Council to see if we could engage more openly in with political interests of EU. With so much gifts, we should always give back as much as we have received.”

“Regardless, on to my good news: it seems like several business deals have gone sour, and Nexus Incorporated’s stockholders will be shocked to hear them. I would imagine that they will call for an emergency meeting to discuss the course of things, and most likely they will be rethinking their status with the EU. I am happy to say that with few good business deals that I can make, not only will Nexus Inc be head over toes for EU once more, but my job will no longer be at stake anymore!” the Executor said with thrilling voice.

Certainly, the Executor seemed to be so shockingly happy about business deals going sour. However, it could probably be inferred that the stockholders were rethinking the CEO’s job as well as the EU dealings, and they were planning on scrapping both in favor of a larger market and better suited businessman to deal with the new major partner.

“So I guess the expense of making Nexus Inc be pro-EU has dropped significantly to having a few business deals established with them. I’m sure a phone call will arrive from the stockholders demanding me to resume the business deal with providing the EU with chips for space programs. And I guess they will also expect an FTA of sort. But that is talk for later. Mr. Lanham, have I heard it right from you?” the Executor asked, “THE Horizon Entertainment will be moving into our nation? This is truly momentous news. I must insist that this be done. We are more than willing to have Horizon Entertainment be part of our member companies.”

The Executor was obviously thinking about the consequences of having the Gracealonan entertainment company being part of Oscalantine. Since Gracealonan media was so popular in Oscalantine, the benefits that Horizon Entertainment will receive as a member company in Oscalantine will cause their sales to shoot up, creating a formidable force in Oscalantine. With such a mighty company in Oscalantine, Rhombiom Corporation, current second power of Oscalantine, will have to fight a bloody battle in political realm to keep its seats. Of course Nexus Inc isn’t an exception to the battle, but losing one or two seats from 15 isn’t as nearly as damaging to the corporate interests as losing one or two seats from 5.

The Executor is also thinking about the shift in influence from the cultists to entertainment. With popularity of Horizon Entertainment’s media industry, more and more celebrities of Gracealona will take their chance with actions in Oscalantine. If such is to happen, the cultists groups will lose more and more grip on their believers, and eventually cause degeneration of cultist power within Oscalantine. This will certainly create a case where a single popular celebrity can move Oscalantine into action. While this will cause Oscalantine to be more pro-EU than the higher-ups would like, it is certainly better for Oscalantine to be “unwillingly” move in favor of EU than they are to move for GWA.

“There are few steps that Horizon Entertainment needs to take before becoming our member companies. Few of those are relatively impossible, such as moving the HQ into Oscalantine. However, since I am the Executor right now, I am more than capable and willing to teak a few rules and grill the Stockholders’ Council into allowing an exception to the rule. With Horizon in Oscalantine, our problems with cultists, Rhombiom, and power vacuum will all be fixed.”

“I am truly thankful for such solutions. This will greatly remove the burden that I have been facing lately. I couldn’t show my face around the city without someone from the cultist clan giving me a scornful look. And when there is a vote to remove me from office every other week, I cannot go out and enjoy myself. Mr. Lanham, you have truly saved me for another few years.”

“However, Oscalantine’s government system doesn’t quite work as smoothly as I would like.” The Executor said as he took a sip at Yak milk, leaving the inevitable milk mustache, “In order for the Horizon Entertainment to be part of the member companies… in fact, for any company to be part of the member company of Oscalantine… there needs to be 2/3 majority vote from the Stockholders’ Council concerning as to whether the company is of best interest to Oscalantine or not. In other words, we need to convince Nexus Inc. While I can steamroll through the process and screw the due process, as such power is invested in me, I will have to deal with a Population Vote, and I may lose my office. And again, we run into problems with Rhombiom having an Executor in the office.”

“In order to prevent this, we have to convince Nexus Inc, at the very least, that they will not be losing money when Horizon comes into Oscalantine. While there are several ways to deal with this problem, I want to humbly request that EU-Oscal FTA be made which favors Nexus Inc. Meanwhile, Nexus Inc will be most likely willing to invest fully into EU, creating jobs and contributing to the economy of EU. As long as there is capital worth making in other markets, Nexus Inc will be happy to allow Horizon into Oscalantine and be more than accepting to losing a few seats in Stockholders’ Council.”

“Of course, if you wish to protect the domestic market, there are other methods to cajole Nexus. One of those is to allow Nexus Inc to contribute in EU government projects. Nexus Inc will gain huge profits when they are contracted into service for Rasvidi-Gracealona space projects as well as EUREP. If you do not mind bragging, Nexus Inc is the leading innovator in information technology. Their hardware will definitely be beneficial for the long-lasting service of either or both of the projects. And as CEO of Nexus Inc, I can make executive decisions and negotiate the business dealings right now, probably freeing up some paperwork in the process. And…” the Executor paused a bit to take another sip of milk, “since Nexus Inc is massive company, I would not be surprised if their offers will be more optimal than other companies. This, of course, will cause Nexus Inc to be investing heavily into the employment of EU, as it is cheaper to create products directly in EU region than it is to ship the same products all the way around Hiborea.”

“Either way, having Nexus Inc invest heavily into EU will cause favorable political results towards EU, as Nexus would be less and less willing to accept losses from their investment should a conflict with EU rise. This will allow me, the Executor, to create more pro-EU policies without fear of backlash. Regardless of what you chose, Horizon’s membership and Nexus Inc’s investment to EU will generate a pro-EU policies in Oscalantine for a good decade at least.” The Executor concluded as he finally realized his milk mustache and wiped it off of his face.

Ulyanovsk Summit Empty
PostSubject: Re: Ulyanovsk Summit   Ulyanovsk Summit EmptySun Feb 13, 2011 4:49 pm

The Vice Chairman had mixed feelings from Lanham's response. His suggestion was brilliant, to the point that Stasova was surprised Rasvidi hadn't come up with it first, however his reluctance to invest in any corporations was also disappointing. Even if she did respect it as general rule, to adhere to it unconditionally even when breaking it might benefit the nation seemed not only foolish but unpatriotic to Yelena. Still, one could only admire a person's persistent dedication to their principles. Rasvidi could squeeze around it, anyways.

"Comrade Lanham, while I feel that your policy of separating business and government is foolish in this situation, I do have to applaud your suggestion. As you pointed out, the people of Oscalantine are somewhat fanatic over your entertainment industry and it's key figures. Horizon Entertainment would not be able to do anything except succeed in such a business environment. Of course, it would make things easier if you could circumvent your rules for something this notable, but we respect your governments decisions and policies.

I do have to question your statement that this wouldn't be as desirable for Rasvidi. If anything, it is probably even more desirable. Since the success of Horizon Entertainment seems almost guaranteed in the Oscalantine market, in the long term it will result in lower costs and a stronger alliance. It will also benefit the economies of the Elite Union nations. If a Rasvidi corporation was used instead, market penetration would be considerably more difficult and any benefits would have been weaker. No, this benefits everyone, Comrade Lanham. That being said, it is my firm belief that the performance of a Rasvidi corporation would trounce Horizon Entertainment or any other business in another situation. So do not take this to mean that we have poor markets.

Rasvidi is also willing to cover setup costs such as transportation and basic construction of offices and such in Oscalantine, as your nation is unwilling to. We will also open up the ports in our colonies to EU and Oscalantine merchants as trading points and refueling stations. Your goods may be stored in these cities, using rented storage units, and your ships and planes may purchase fuel from us at base cost. That is, at exactly what it cost to produce the fuel, no profits."

As she spoke, she couldn't help but overhear the phone conversation and was disturbed by what she was able to catch. Talk of the HLF, military development, and a multi-billion trade deal. Was the Oscalantine government selling weapons to someone? If they were, she hadn't heard anything of it from the Chairman or any intelligence personnel. And, if they were, who? The HLF? But they were disbanded during the Hijjma Island Conflict...

She was too busy contemplating the implications of Nate's phone conversation to have heard what he said after he hung up. She suddenly looked like a deer caught in headlights, and froze for a second before speaking. "Erm... yes, uh, the Chairman would know more about that then me though." She tried not to blush as the Chairman gave her a stern look. He wiped his mouth, taking a few moments to chew and swallow the food he was already eating, and washed it down with some mead. He finally turned to face the other delegates.

"Good suggestion with Horizon Entertainment, Comrade Lanham. I am surprised we didn't think of it ourselves. The revolution clearly lives for you, Comrade." He smiled gently and nodded, before addressing Nate.

"And congratulations to you as well, Comrade Kwon. Whatever the situation may be, it is always nice to hear that an ally is making good. Hopefully this will make our mutual situations much easier. We also support your renewed plans to remove focus from these 'cultists'. It is always a good thing in Rasvidi's eyes when religious groups of any nature are deprived of power and clout. These are inherently unstable and corrupt organizations, and any sort of power they gain is a serious danger. Trivializing their role in your politics will only bring good things to you, my Comrade. Good things indeed."

Having said this, he leaned in close, and spoke in a more hushed tone. "I am also impressed by your political... maneuvering. Using Horizon Entertainment for yourself in such a way, by using your nation's idols to manipulate, is a fantastic idea. We practice similar things in Rasvidi, but it's not too well received by the international community. Their governments only last a few years anyways, so it's of no consequence in the long run."

Smiling broadly and mischievously, he leaned back and returned his speaking voice to normal. "Yes, I think we can learn alot from one another. How about a political education program between our two nations? As you already know, we have well developed political programs in our universities. I suggest making these universities and similar universities in Oscalantine open to eachothers students. Students from Rasvidi can participate in education programs abroad in Oscalantines universities, and vice versa. What our academics can't learn in our own institutions, they can learn in the other's.

As for your offer of Free Trade, Rasvidi supports this venture. Giving preferential treatment to one corporation might not be taken well by my EU brethren, however. If they are willing to accept such a deal, then Rasvidi is willing to offer an identical deal for itself. We would offer free trade between our nations, however it would be exclusive to Nexus Inc. No other businesses from your nation would receive such a benefit. This would make Nexus the ideal investment in your nation, regardless if this deal is specific to Rasvidi or EU-wide."

"I suppose I assumed that moving with Horizon Entertainment wouldn't be as desirable for Rasvidi as it is a Gracealonian Corporation rather than a Rasvidian one. I digress though. I'm glad my suggestion could benefit us all and I'm sure the CEO of Horizon will be excited about it as well. I do apologize though that we can't invest in this venture. I suppose I could propose it to Congress but I can't imagine it gaining a majority of votes. True there would be a few senators and representatives that would support it but the chance of a majority is basically non-existent. As for your offer to pay for Horizon's start-up costs in Oscalantine that needs to be negotiated with Horizon.

As for Free Trade we also support this, it would obviously be mutually beneficial. "

Ulyanovsk Summit Empty
PostSubject: Re: Ulyanovsk Summit   Ulyanovsk Summit EmptySat Feb 19, 2011 1:41 pm

“You flatter me, sir.” Executor Nate said to the Chairman while lowering his head into a slight bow, “It is only by the grace of Rasvidi that I have learned so much. I have learned much politics from the former Chairman. And I do hope that he will be proud of how far I have gotten thanks to his teachings. May he rest in peace, knowing that Rasvidi and Oscalantine will be one in many conflicts to come.”

“Yes, it would be great to establish an exchange programs between universities of Rasvidi and Oscalantine. Oscalantine’s future politicians can learn much from the politics of Rasvidi, which much of Oscalantine’s revolutionary doctrinarian came from. Oscalantine also offers a unique field of study called Economic Governance, which is a field of political study to adapt to unique economic governmental structure that Oscalantine has. I believe that Rasvidian students will have fascinating experience participating in the lectures. I shall talk with Nexus Academy of Bael to see if we can establish an exchange program with Rasvidi’s universities.” Executor Nate said as he sat up straight.

Nexus Academy of Bael was a unique university in Bael, which was a city of Nexus Incorporated. NAB, or simply “the Academy” is the only university in Bael which is not directly supported by the Nexus Inc, and therefore the only structure that is not under the influence of Nexus Inc. Its students are the finest in Oscalantine, seeking to master whatever major of interest that they wish to pursue. The best and the brightest can even have a chance to appeal to the government of Oscalantine to apply for the few spots, and only the unique and the talented… and perhaps those with connections… can enroll into it. While NAB is known for many unique programs including those in liberal arts, the most prominent of major is Economic Governance, which is a major that mixes Economy and Government only in a way that Oscalantine has done. Anyone willing and competent enough to pass through the rigorous major will be awarded with almost guaranteed spot in either the member companies in Oscalantine or the Oscalantine government itself. Either way, many perceive NAB’s Economic Governance to be the road to being an elite in Oscalantine.

“It is settled, then!” the Executor said enthusiastically, “I thank you all for helping Oscalantine in such matter. Indeed, Nexus Inc is in EU’s debt. I shall personally see to the joining of Horizon Entertainment into Oscalantine’s halls. As for the startup… I believe that Horizon already has a base of operations within Oscalantine. It is small, but remodeling already-existent structure would be far more cost-efficient than starting up anew. I would also have to assume that it will want more than two cable channels that Horizon already has. I shall discuss with the NNN in terms of what we can do about adding Horizon into regular channels, although I cannot imagine people not owning cable these days.”

The Executor Nate seemed to be thrilled about the talk about the FTA, but his enthusiastic start was interrupted by a phone call. By the ring of the call (“Warning: you have incoming whining from the Council~!”) it was probably from the Stockholders’ Council. And since they did not reach this number unless there was something to say, the Executor reluctantly produced the cell phone from his pocket.

“I am sorry, but there seems to be something unpleasant going on in my country. If may I have a moment…” the Executor said as he turned slightly to the sides to address the caller.

“Yes, Mr. H, I am here.” The Executor answered the call.

“Sir, we have a situation…” Mr. H began.

“You do not call this number otherwise. I hope it isn’t anything major.”

“Actually, sir, this is. And we were hoping that you can do something about it while in the summit.”

“And that is…” the Executor asked.

“There is a situation with the maritime restriction by the Rasvidi concerning Plot 35’s territories. Apparently they are setting up a sort of restrictive area in order to prevent EEE’s vessels from entering the place. While Oscalantine fleets can move undisturbed, the trade vessels with EEE banner will be hard-pressed to enter Oscalantine unobstructed, and that will certainly spike some prices on goods. This will affect Oscalantine’s prices on Aluminum and Chrome, which we import heavily from EEE from the territory of Noratos. If you can arrange it so that the trade vessels can move unobstructed…”

“I understand. I’ll see what I can do. Meanwhile, inform Rhombiom to try to use Oscalantine-produced vessels to import aluminums and chrome. Never mind the labor costs… the prices of those will go up anyways due to fuel usage. Tell Rhombiom that I am willing to lax few human rights laws for now so that they do not suffer too much loss.”

“Yes, sir. And I guess you will place those restrictions back on?”

“I am not in favor of Rhombiom getting away without paying up to the Oscalantine. This measure is until Nexus can cope with the pricing changes… if the prices ever change. We shall see how things work out.”

“Yes, sir.” Mr. H said before hanging up.

“Excuse me, sirs and ma’am, the Stockholders’ Council refuses to leave me alone. Although I guess there will be difficulties in getting things done with a branch that is so woefully underpowered and underemployed. They have informed me of certain things that they wished to be addressed in the summit, although I see this as wasted opportunity to talk about other things. So let us all say that it was mentioned but we never got around to it, shall we? It seems like it is a waste of time, really, to talk about such a topic.”

The Executor quickly switched topics. It wasn’t because the Executor thought it wasn’t a pressing matter. However, he didn’t want to waste his time over such an issue when there will be friction between EU candidates. That will sour the mood, and that won’t turn out so well. Oscalantine will lose more than gain, and that will far underplay everything that he has achieved. Besides… it wasn’t a big deal in the long-run. As soon as Rhombiom Corporation was able to settle into the new pattern of shipping their goods into Serilaq waters, things will even out. And naturally, so will the pricing. If anything, the inflated costs will go on for just a bit. Oscalantine will gain nothing but save face if it wanted to tackle Rasvidi about such an issue. Nay, it was better to make a public comment about it, say that they discussed it over the summit, and say that there was no agreement reached. There is no need to say things that will disturb the mood… it was better to gloss over such trifle issue and move onto more important things… like trade agreements.

“Now concerning free trade, Mr. Chairman,” the Executor said, addressing Vaino, “Nexus Inc will definitely benefit by Rasvidi laxing the import tax on electronics. For instance, Nexus Inc will benefit marvelously if new sales of Grania SII, the newest phone of Nexus Inc, was to come into EU undisturbed by tariff. In exchange, Oscalantine is willing to remove its entire embargo on the import of Yak, as we had that silly law kept since USI times. We will also be in your debt if we can import titanium cheaply. Such measure will surely benefit our nation, as we are always desperate for metals. In exchange, of course, Oscalantine will be willing to open up more exports of Silver and Uranium to EU nations. This transaction will certainly bring more jobs into EU and Rasvidi especially, as Nexus Inc will surely establish more lines to keep up with the customers demanding their services in EU.”

“Again, we would like to offer similar deals to Gracealona, Mr. Lanham,” the Executor said, “However, we do not have anything solid in return for allowing free import of electronic goods. You do must specify what you wish to enter into Oscalantine tax-free. Oscalantine will also love to obtain Iron imports from Gracealona. We shall exchange with silver and uranium ores.”

“If there is any changes you would like to make on behalf of your national interest, please do so. I am more than willing to give in order to secure the transactions. An undisturbed trade will certainly benefit Oscalantine as well as its member companies greatly.”

“And I do not know whether this will concern your nation as much, but…” the Executor began cautiously, “Oscalantine… more specifically Rhombiom Corporation… have obtained rights to several oil rigs. They have since lowered their costs per barrel to match that of EEE, and continue to plan to do so in the future. Oscalantine have already started to purchase Rhombiom oil for military purposes, as their oil refining capabilities we can trust, but Rhombiom lacks market force to continue this low-costing oil refinement. Will EU be interested in shifting their reliance from EEE to Rhombiom Corp. until EUREP have been finished? It was a suggestion made by Rhombiom officials so I decided to rally to you, as I have noticed the small, yet solid rise in EU’s oil costs as I passed by the gas stations.”

The Executor paused a bit to sip the milk. Those were already done deals. It didn’t matter to the Executor about the fine details… as long as the EU wanted to take consideration for the free trade; there was always a room for compromise. That was that. Oscalantine had so much to gain by freeing up electronic tariffs from EU and gaining stable supply of titanium and iron ores that it didn’t matter if certain dealings will be inflated somewhat. That can be all made up when Nexus can obtain a solid market share in EU and Rhombiom can obtain a decent market force in the oil market. There was now a need to talk about more pressing matters.

“Forgive me for speaking too much. There is so much on my mind that I seem to have hard time containing it. However, I do wish to beg for yet another request: will Oscalantine be able to join as a client country of the space programs? We do not ask that the entirety of the program will be shared with us, but we would like to contribute to the cause in exchange for the development of our own satellites into orbit. As you can tell, Oscalantine is the top innovator of information technology, but we do not have space-faring capabilities. If Oscalantine can put a few satellites in orbit, I believe that Oscalantine will surely be able to continue in that path. Of course, we shall pay for the entire construction and launch of satellites as well as rental of the launching facilities. We shall also contribute to the cause of current space programs. I also believe that Nexus Inc’s information technologies can provide a breakthrough in many fields in terms of internal hardwares and softwares. Can there be a deal between us?”

The Executor purposefully left out the fact that if Oscalantine was to meet with Gracealona and Rasvidi in space project, Nexus Inc was willing to share with EU the top secret thermal laser blueprints… the latest eOptics MarkII model. It will certainly allow for any of the EU parties to set up a missile-defense as well as militarization of space if Oscalantine and EU create a joint project in developing thermal laser further into more diverse roles. However, the Executor did not want to sell the project solely due to thermal laser. He wanted to see if they can trust the EU, since space projects will take a long time while blueprints for the models can be given in a blink of an eye. It was a simple matter of caution, but the Executor wanted to make sure that things were safe before forking over one of the greatest invention that Oscalantine has.

[Okay I thought you might mean that you thought they only owned two channels in Gracealona and anywhere total. But yeah you are correct on the Oscalantine channel owning, they own many more in Gracealona though.]

Ulyanovsk Summit Empty
PostSubject: Re: Ulyanovsk Summit   Ulyanovsk Summit EmptyWed Feb 23, 2011 12:04 pm

The Chairman wiped his mouth as he listened to the delegates, and took a big mouthful of mead. The sweet alcohol went well with the savoury meats before him, but he was starting to feel a bit too warm and relaxed. He was, after all, at a high level diplomatic meeting. Yelena Stasova, on the other hand, could handle her alcohol incredibly well. Growing up in pre-revolution Rasvidi, and then spending almost all of her adult life in the post-revolutionary period, she had logged considerable drinking hours. She had already required a liver transplant 12 years ago, and would likely have another before she died. If it wasn't what ended up killing her. But she never appeared to be drunk while performing her duties, at least not outwardly so; and she performed them so well that nobody had ever tried to call her out on her drinking.

That was nobodies business but her own, though, and Väinö knew this. Besides, who in Rasvidi didn't have a drinking or drug problem these days? The youngest generation was being raised well, but the older generations had lived through nightmare after nightmare. They needed the vices to survive, and who had the right to take that away from them? Nobody did, and the country's laws reflected this. Of course, more important issues should have been dominating his mind right now.

"Rasvidi would be very interested in Oscalantine's uranium... very interested indeed. Ah, we have been pursuing nuclear power for some time now but have not had the resources to accomplish this. We get a trickle of Uranium from Gracealona, but not enough to... achieve our goals. If you were to provide us with sufficient uranium, you can import our Titanium tax free. We feel that it is more then a fair deal.

In fact, we will give you full access to Rasvidi's space program if we can have unfettered access to your uranium market, in addition to providing you with Titanium. This is a very lucrative area for us, and we would love nothing more then to break into this market. We are, uh, very enthusiastic about our nuclear power. Very enthusiastic." Väinö was grinning like an idiot, but Stasova was giving him an icy glare that said 'you are a moron and you better shutup'. When he saw this, he shrank back a bit under the gaze. What an intimidating woman, he thought...

Stasova spoke up, after moving her gaze away from the Chairman. "Yes, we do indeed wish to aid our environment more then we have in the past. Nuclear power would allow us to do that, and would reduce the massive pollution and smog produced by our coal and gas plants. But enough of that, I'm sure you don't want to hear us going on and on about it when there are other things to discuss." She shot another quick glare at the Chairman as she said this.

"We are in the process of construction a space station for research and other purposes. We have many of the basic components already completed, they simply need to be launched. We are willing to allow Oscalantine astronauts into the program, to perform orbital missions and to occupy the space station when it is completed. We are also planning a lunar mission, and we hope to be the first nation to land on the moon; perhaps Oscalantine can accompany our brethren on that first mission.

We are, however, a bit wary. We previously had a joint space program with Gracealona, but that fell through during the North Sea War. Those events are behind us now, though, and we would like to extend the invitation for our long-term allies to enter into another agreement, this time including Oscalantine.

And as for your proposal to switch our oil reliance to Rhobiom, Rasvidi is more then willing to do so. The fact is that we have been struggling recently because of our high tariffs on edesu oil, without any real alternatives yet. This is a welcome development. I'm sure Comrade Carlton would also be for this."

Stasova paused to take a lengthy drink from her mug of vodka. After sighing with visible pleasure, she returned to the conversation.

"And I would be remiss if I didn't take every opportunity to invite your nation into the EU. I believe you would stand to benefit quite a bit from joining, as would we. You have done so much for us, and we ask nothing in return for the help we give you. We are practically allies already, the three of us; why not make it formal?"

Down below, the Opera changed scenery to a more fast-paced and intense act where the main character confronts his male lover with a suspected affair. The scene began with him bursting into the cabin where his lover is resting, and loudly and forcefully accusing the other man of cheating with a woman during shore leave. The singing and gestures gradually become more aggressive and intense, as the lover at first denies any sort of involvement before spitefully admitting that he did seduce a young woman. In a crescendo of rage, the main character thrusts his sword into his lovers chest, killing him. Some audience members clap, clearly approving of the behaviour, while others show their disapproval by booing. The main character then goes on to tell the audience that he feels no regret for what he has done, and that this is just "The way of the sea, so cruel and unforgiving yet constantly at ease with the world".

"Gracealona's oil needs are smaller than Rasvidi's as we adopted our own national form of the EUREP around 25 years ago. However our oil needs still exist of course, so importing from Rhombiam sounds like an excellent idea.

Also, both of you have expressed needs to launch your various space projects into orbit. The GNSA flies the fleet of Trinty shuttles which are by far the most advanced spacecraft in the world. They would be more than capable of launching Oscalantine's satellites or the modules of Rasvidi's space station. In fact the first project that the Trinity Shuttles worked was the construction Gracealona's own Vista Space Station. Naturally we wish to re-kindle the cooperation between our two space programs, it would be unfortunate if that cooperation became yet another casualty of the North Sea Conflict. In fact, I believe that the start our engineers made on the lunar program are still on file at the GNSA headquarters. Of course Oscalantine becoming a client of the GNSA and even becoming a part of the lunar program would be welcomed, their advances in information tech and communications would be useful in the lunar mission. Rasvidi and Oscalantine astronauts would also be welcomed aboard Vista.

Also, I concur with my Rasvidian friend when I say that we could mutually benefit from you joining the Elite Union and encourage you to accept our invitation."

Ulyanovsk Summit Empty
PostSubject: Re: Ulyanovsk Summit   Ulyanovsk Summit EmptyFri Feb 25, 2011 12:55 pm

[[I think there is a bit of time continuum issue, but I didn’t want to call another summit when there is already one in making]]

The Executor’s face did not have a hint of showing discontent. In fact, he seemed to grow happier as the summit went on. Things were working out as he wished, and the trades seem to be at his grasps. A secure source of Titanium would benefit Oscalantine immensely, and Rhombiom Corporation’s suggestion was taken very well by the two nations. It seemed as if things couldn’t go any smoother.

“Ah, Oscalantine is indeed in EU’s debts. Not only have Nexus Inc secured a safe market within EU, we also have undisturbed Titanium market. Iron market would be marvelous as well. It seems like these dealing are too good to be true!”

“Yes, we would be more than happy to take out restrictions for uranium ore import toward Rasvidi, as well as dropping the embargo on Yak. Really, I never grasped why those grumpy bums in USI wanted to cease Yak imports. If it was because our population will LOVE its tender meat, however, they might be correct.” The Executor said as he cut through another tender portion of the medium-rare stake from his plate and shoved the content into his mouth.

While the Executor chewed happily and started to think about the space programs as well as rather sour dealings about joining EU, important global news have come to a past.

And as such, Oscalantine’s response was quick and pressing. Madam Stigma, in her “white figurine” suit, walked through the entrance, ignoring all guards and slipping past their grasps. In her arms she held several documents and files concerning extremely important topic.

“Nate, I got news from Farnor,” Madam Stigma said to the Executor.

“Hmm?” the Executor said, still chewing happily through the stake.

Madam Stigma called someone to clear the Executor’s side of the table of food, which the Executor did not like, and she proceeded with placing documents and files that the Executor needed to see. In fact, the file and pictures were laid out for everyone in the delegation to see.

“We have a serious situation, Nate, and as the Executor, the stocks will drop if we do not do something about this.” Madam Stigma said, with the sense of urgency.

The file showed a picture from Oscalantine Astronomical Association. While Oscalantine did not have a space program worth mentioning, it did have a research facility intended on observing the sky… or astronomy. Privately funded and supported by the government. Oscalantine Astronomical Association, OAA, relayed a strange satellite that the Isis Rakael launched several months past. The Executor remembers such satellite, but did not decide to care about the situation… there must be a technology working at hand that made the satellite look so distinguishable from other forms of normal satellites.

However, while such news was dismissed by the government, OAA kept a steady eye on the satellite, and have caught the glimpse of the purpose of the satellite.

Just a few minutes ago, OAA reported a type-AAA+ protocol to the Oscalantine government, which was only in the instances where an extremely large threat from space was present or imminent. Such protocol was only reserved for meteorites that could possibly destroy all life on planet or the likes of immense space-related threat.

However, this was no natural disaster. Apparently the Rakaelian satellite’s true purpose was unveiled when the satellite dropped a large chunk of metal from the heavens just a few hours ago. OAA immediately contacted the Oscalantine Seismic Obervatory, OSO, and asked for the seismic magnitude of the area that the OAA guessed was the landing spot. The OAA also have contacted Nexus Institute of Physics, NIoP, and requested the calculation of similar projectile as seen dropping from the Rakaelian satellite would hit a certain target. The observation and the calculations were in just a few minutes ago, and OAA reported the protocol.

The magnitude of the “bomb” was immense, fast, and un-preventable once it fires. A space projectile dropped from a satellite orbit would cause the destruction of any city with the power of a nuclear weapon. And this wasn’t something that thermal laser could protect against. The pushing power of the bomb was also powerful. According to the theoretical calculations, such a powerful weapon would act as a bunker buster of its own, capable of penetrating several floors of the Encrypted Cities before stopping.

Such a powerful weaponry threat, with no promise of Isis-Oscal alliance in the future, will come as a shock to the stock market, as it will serve the immediately drop the market prices. While the stock will recover in time, the loaming threat will not serve any good… in fact, it will undo everything that the Executor won in the summit if he was not careful.

The Executor’s face darkened at the reports. He examined the reports as Madam Stigma explained in detail in hushed tone. The prints of the new weapon, the calculations and the observations of the bomb’s effects, as well as simulation of the impact in Encrypted Cities should any of these bombs will fall. There was also a simulation result of thermal laser: there was no way to prevent the bomb once it fires. It seemed all too from science fiction… yet somehow, Isis Rakael, in its superior technology, have made it into science reality. This would explain why Oscalantine was so much ahead in certain technologies compared to a giant like Isis… they were distracted in making orbital bombardment system.

“Ladies and Gentleman, behold, the Leviathan of Hiborea’s demise.” The Executor muttered, “Entire Hiborea would be under threat should these bombs be fully developed without our watch.”

“Nate, I think we need to discuss Project Utopian Network and Project Haven.” Madam Stigma said in a calm tone, although she did have a tremble in her voice.

“Absolutely right. The two projects need to be underway.” The Executor said as he dismissed Madam Stigma. Madam Stigma quickly retreated to contact Farnor about the situation.

The Executor was silent once more while absorbing the information. Isis Rakael was gentle giant until now… but was this going to be the instrument of massive invasion to Hiborea? Was this the reason why Isis Rakael wanted the stealth submarine technology?

The Executor had yet to speak about the Project Utopian Network and Project Haven, however, most likely these two projects were “Plan D” that Oscalantine had in plan in case of such threat was the strike Hiborea. Indeed, Oscalantine would be most greatly affected should any country in Hiborea fall, and will work vigorously to protect the well-being of Hiborea from outside forces. And naturally, as Oscalantine seemed to have a giant think-tank propping up scenarios for all sorts of situations to help Oscalantine cope with quick-changing business-government world, these plans would help deal with the threat that Hiborea now faced.

[[Try reading his post. It is in Noraetos (or whatever that continent is), and yes, it did chuck a rod of tungsten from the orbit to the bombing site. It is still in test phase, but I'm rolling with the fact that most likely, such massive earthquake and such odd satellite would've been caught by someone's intelligence program]]
