The Gracemaria Times

Today plans were unveiled and ground was broken in downtown Gracemaria on the new Elite Union Headquarters building. The new project, which will cost 250 Million Lotas, be 4 stories tall and approximately 120 thousand square feet, is scheduled to be completed in 3 years. Currently, the EU is meeting in a renovated conference room at the capital building. The new facility will be built on the former site of the Imperial Hotel which was left vacant and for sale after going bankrupt, only 2 blocks west of the Government Distract in North Eastern Gracemaria. In an interview with the projects architect Scott Leonard he said

“When designing the headquarters I studied classic NX401 and Rasvidian architecture and consulted with experts on architecture from those two nations. Combining my new knowledge of those nations architecture with my knowledge of Gracealonian styles I worked to combine the three. The new building will be a modern building with both subtle and obvious features of the classic architectures of the three nations. I also worked to make it a green building. It features many windows and skylights to allow large amounts of natural light inside so minimal artificial lighting needs to be used during the day. There are solar panels on the roof that provide 60% of the buildings energy needs on a sunny day as well. Since our nation is the world leader in renewable energy all other energy comes from renewable energy plants that provide energy to Gracemaria. This makes it so the building is powered by 100% renewable energy.

Knowing that the EU may someday gain nations I have designed the facility to accommodate this growth. It will comfortably host and cater to the needs of up to 15 nations.”

The government of Rasvidi has recently announced it's support for this project. Additionally, the Chairman has pledged to provide a further 250 Million Reichsmarks (~575 Million Lotas) to the construction of the headquarters, and is offering up contracts for Rasvidi architects and engineers. Rasvidi hopes the additional funds and manpower will shorten the construction time by a considerable length. The government has also encouraged NX401 to contribute as well, however much it may be.

Some controversy arose within Rasvidi over which region's architecture will be exemplified in the new headquarters. The major Rasvidi cultures of Keisarov, Lakkvärvia, Fjellsted and Burgundia have each attempted to make a bid, but the Chairman has stated that Keisarov architecture will likely be used. This has drawn criticism, as Väinö Nakashidze is of Kabar (Burgundian) ethnicity.

The Trade Commissariat will be handling the financial contributions. The government branch has 254 Billion Reichsmarks total in funding.

We gladly accept these offers of help from Rasvidi. However the amount of money you are willing to provide is far more than required, the entire project will only cost up to 300 million so that amount of money would pay for the project entirely with money to spare. Knowing that more money is availible though plans will likely be revised to make the building more luxurious but that amount is still way more than we can ever imagine spending.

We also encourage NX401 personnel to contribute as we wish this building to reflect a joining of our three nations and their cultures.

Today construction workers completed demolishing purchased buildings that formerly occupied the city block that the EU HQ will be built on. They will now begin to lay the foundation for the headquarters. Engineers from Rasvidi and Gracealona are also meeting to revise the plans for the Headquarters taking into account the newly increased budget for the project.

The EU headquarters had its ribbon cutting ceramony today. Even with the additon of Pokoteria and Alameria to the EU, the new headquarters are still only at about a third of a capacity as far as space.
