I realized that as you go on, there are certain things that you... JUST WANT! Like Robots, Submersible Aircraft Carriers, Super Soldiers, Psychic Soldiers, Time Machine, etc. The imagination is endless and everything is up for grabs!!!!

... except it isn't. You see, there is this MEAN old dude named Secretary of Culture that stands in your way from getting all those futuristic gadgets that you want so much! What are you going to do?!

Well, fear no more, inventors! This thread is JUST FOR YOU!!! You see, this thread is for people that want new stuff... the cool stuff that you have seen in documentaries, just thought up, and some you found from Wikipedia. All those ideas and simple burst of thought should come here to be tested and refined.

The Reason for this thread is simple: To make "requesting new Technology" for everyone clear and with proper procedures. Feel free to see if ANYTHING works. I am perfectly fine with ridiculous requests... heck, who knows? I might even accept them!


So here's the rule as to how this works. It is really simple, multi-step procedure, actually.

• Suggest and Idea: post here an invention that you want
  
• Notify "THA MAN": TG or PM SoC, or just wait. SoC will post that your idea has been accepted and can begin the next step. The process should take two to three business days to process.
  
• Refine your Idea: SoC will most likely give you his two cents on the invention. Argue with him, debate with everyone that bothers to be here, and polish your invention to fit into the "Modern Era" pole.
  • Sometimes, an idea will be REJECTED. That means that SoC thought that it was too futuristic.
  • Most likely, SoC will give you the reason why he thought it was so via TG
  
  
• VOTE!!!: Once it has been refined, your invention will be up for voting. VOTE for your invention!!!
  • The voting ends approximately TWO WEEKS after the vote has been casted, or more than 5 people have agreed that it was a good idea.
  • Everyone will be notified of the voting through Tiberiam region board.
  • The Invention's current blueprint will also be written in THIS POST to ensure that everyone is informed.

• Oil Tech: Need more information about the process of extracting Natural Gas
  • Technology to create an EFFICIENT method of extracting natural gas that forms as a result of oil drilling.
  • Logical but no evidence. Must provide how the procedure works (extracting natural gas from drill) part in order for me to move on.
  • The requester have stated that such invention was already modern. It was researched and confirmed by SoC. Case closed, no patent issued.

Inventions in Installation

Ok, thing #1. Patent is the word. Patten is not.

Anyways, EEE's first request is an Edesu drug to treat Alzheimer's; we named it Vivanza. The formula is secret (because I do not understand medicine), but the base chemical is Dextroamphetamine. Other chemicals give Vivanza it pharmacological properties. Research of this drug has been completed after 16 years, and EEE would like to market it.

This is definitely within the bounds of 2010 medicine.

Currently all I'm getting is that its salt is being used for ADHD treatment, but i'll look further. But it is a chemical currently in use... just need to specify this a bit more...

Alright dude... Found Dex and official definition of Alzheimer's disease. And... erm... well, here it is.

The chemical Dextroamphetamine is only used to cure apathy of Alzheimer's Disease. The overall process of losing brain function as well as memories are... well, still intact.
I realize that the medication of treatment of certain symptoms of Alzheimer can be established, however, so I was looking up certain sections. Alzheimer is basically caused by severe shrinking of brain tissues and thus causing dementia. In other words... unless chemical has been found to stimulate the loss of brain cells or prevent the process of shrinkage from first place, the cure cannot take place.

As for treatment... it is probably possible to treat various symptoms of the disease so that the patient can live normally for slight bit longer. However, ultimately the loss of brain tissues creates memory loss in wide scale and patient ultimately loses even the ability to speak, although the patient can listen and comprehend the speech of others. Ultimately, Alzheimer's disease patients will end of being reliant on caretakers and the ultimate destruction of brain tissues is still immanent.

With that said... I have explored if you can treat Alzheimer through stem cells. However, given such a rapid destruction of brain cells at large, we currently do not have the ability to replace such loss of brain tissues. And even if we do... brain is such a vital organ of individual's identity... so in the end, even if we are able to reconstruct the neurons, we will not be able to call the person the same individual anymore.

I also sought methods of preventing the loss of cells through chemicals. That should've been within our field of science, and it probably is. However, as of 2009, we do not know what the heck causes the shrinkage. Bunch of theories, but no solid reason why this is caused. I met an impasse.


I'll post here because this isn't me saying "no." Instead, I will let you ponder on the thought. Do you still want to create a drug that will treat symptoms of Alzheimer's Disease before the ultimate destruction of brain comes?

This drug, which has vital chemicals other than Dextroamphetamine, is merely a treatment, not a cure. I know nothing of medicine, so I could not fabricate a proper concoction.

The government of Rasvidi would like to patent the new drug "Somniferum" (also known within Rasvidi as "Korvaus"), a powerful synthetic opioid that mimics the qualities of several drugs derived from the Opium Poppy, particularly Morphine, Codeine and Noscapine. It has many uses, chiefly medical, but has found implementation in recreational drug dispensaries across Rasvidi.

Like the drugs it mimics, Somniferum has applications as an antitussive (cough-suppressing), analgesic (painkiller), and antidiarrheal, with potential cancer and stroke benefits being demonstrated. As a recreational drug, it behaves largely like morphine in producing a relaxing euphoria, in addition to mild hallucinogenic properties similar to ketamine or noscapine. Because of medication's awesome turnout and its such harmless nature to changing history in general, I think I'll just put request skele for people to use, and I approve them instead of having the process of check and balance. This is mainly because I think that all the medications, as long as you are reasonable, is relatively within reality. Now, if you try to create a side effect-less drugs or cure all, then I have to stop ya. Also keep in mind that I really don't like Phoenix Dawn in RP =)

Let's see... All four inventions are noted. I shall update the status of each later. However, some of them immediately raises red flag.

Firstly, I would like for you to DEFINITE what types of symptoms that your med treats. I realize that it is a treatment of Alzheimer's, and that is awesome with me. What I do not get is what symptoms? For instance, if you are to say that this med treats the memory loss symptom of Alzheimer's, then this might not be acceptable. If you are more towards symptoms like withdrawal, an early stage symptom of Alzheimer's, then it is perfectly acceptable. I need you to define what is the target of this med, and I'll be glad to put this as your invention.


Your Patent 003 (the first one) where you say that you wish to extract natural gas from oil rigs is a bit outdated. Given that all nations in Tiberiam is at LEAST in WWII era tech, and since the natural gas has been extracted as a byproduct of oil drilling since... what, since 19th century?... such process does not need my approval. As long as you put in your database that your oil processes also extract natural gases at efficient rate at the same time, then I don't even think this needs approval. I would urge you to do more research on this topic, though, there are plenty of interesting things that you can do with natural gas (giving you hints... which I hate doing...)


Heathen Hammer? Well, Inquisition was invented better part of centuries ago, I say yes to this, and you don't even need my approval. Unless this sends out antimatter that obliterates anyone within 10 mile radius, I don't think it is necessary to be approved. If you do sincerely have something special about this hammer, I'll take note and place it up on the list of inventions. I would say that EEE should be able to invent its own style of "Inquisition," but that's just my suggestion.




Alright, here's where I find the red flag: dehydrated water. A real wtf moment here. Can you specify what you are saying? Dehydrated water seems a bit... odd. So you are saying that you can obtain MORE water than you put in, because you have dehydrated the water substance? You are well aware that the term "water" is applied to H2O atoms in the state of liquid, right? Since that is the case, dehydrating the substance means taking the "water" out of water itself... and thus you achieve in creating nothing... well, given the impurity of the water, you might be left with dried up micro-particles.

Most SoC would've taken this as a JOKE JOKE JOKE JOKE and moved on, raging about how you must be thinking that you are so clever and you are taking SoC's job as a joke. However, being such a WONDERFUL SoC that I am, I took time to research in case somehow you have found a WONDROUS physics article where dehydrating water was even possible. Well, that research led me to THIS.

Its more technical term is "deoxydized" water, where somehow you are left with highly concentrated masses of hydrogen in a containment, that you can simply add oxygen to create water from. I got no clue how this is possible, since concentrated hydrogen atoms in extreme conditions like that would cause explosion (nuclear fusion to be exact). And the substance H2 would be impossible to convert back into water unless you have ample supply of electricity. Unless you are in space (which, the link evidently is about a game in space), you are better off digging for water or carrying REGULAR water around then inventing this crap to be held by your people. And as I said before, you would basically be carrying around a miniature hydrogen bomb (even if you do not concentrate enough to make ANY decent size of supply of water, it is still just a gas can of hydrogen with electrical wiring.) instead of any decent water source. I would even venture out to say that this could be an excellent bomb for terrorism... if the guards were stupid enough to believe that the "dehydrated water" should be carried on board the plane due to strict non-microorganism diet that the strange man was talking about.

A more logical solution would be to simply carry around Oxygen atoms (O2) and through chemical process create water by inserting in hydrogen. I have a vague idea of how hard that would be <<it would be about the same hardness level as SAFELY AND IN THE OPEN ENVIRONMENT mixing Sodium and Chlorine gases (which, btw, are gases that have been used in both World Wars in chemical warfare).>>, but you can do that. However, I say you have better chance trying to create a machine that collects moistures in the atmosphere in a quick fashion (beyond modern tech if you want to speed the process fast enough to get instantaneous water whenever you want) than to try to efficiently and safely chemically create water from oxygen and hydrogen gas with 100% success rate. I say you give up on this entirely, but if you WANT to have your citizens crossing your desert with ticking bombs, I won't stop you.

1- Vivanza treats early Alzeihmer's by significantly delaying progression. (Symptoms of early Alzheimer's are shown below.) This early stage usually lasts 2-4 years. Vivanza greatly diminishes these symptoms and postpones advancement to the disease's more severe forms for another ~5 years. Once moderate Alzheimer's is reached, Vivanza is useless. Its success is well documented.
Frequent recent memory loss, particularly of recent conversations and events. Repeated questions, some problems expressing and understanding language. Writing and using objects become difficult. Depression and apathy can occur. Drastic personality changes may accompany functional decline. Need reminders for daily activities, and difficulties with sequencing impact driving early in this stage.

2- This is a total joke. Dehydrated water is an empty container. Just add water! We still will market this to capitalist countries. I RP that it becomes a popular joke-gift globally.

3- We already have the technology to capture natural gas while drilling for crude oil. However, in oil-rich regions such as Saudi Arabia (or EEE), the cost exceeds the value of the gas. This technology, which I have no understanding of, would quickly change this dilemma. More profits!

4- The heathen hammer is a joke. Please don't take it seriously. We haven't used torture to convert people in over 50 RP years.

I know don't even know that the process is inefficient. So you would have to get me some evidence... There are plenty of different methods of maximizing profits, but I dunno how that will work... firstly, can you research the procedure of extracting natural gas for me? I would research myself, but I'm busy as of late... whenever you have time, feel free to tell me I'll start from there.

Yeah... I need help in approving inventions. I know that some of them some people said it is fine if I had. Others... I haven't asked.

Therefore, I'll try my best to answer the questions and get on a debate as to whether the inventions can be approved by the masses, since I cannot approve my own inventions (biased nature comes around.)



1. One is Submersible Aircraft Carrier. Before you say anything, I have proof!!!

I plan on using the technology so that I shoot out UAVS from the torpedo chute or the likes. That will allow my aircraft carrier to stay underwater while it shoots out fighters instead of extending out its runways.


2. ScatterDotty Inner Armor System (IAS)

It is more or less just logic. If there are thermal laser, shouldn't there be a way around it?

Well, Thermal Laser is a technology that lies in heating the objects into critical heat and creating a destruction of internal areas, where things are most vulnerable. It can quickly intercept missiles (by exploding its either cargo or its rocket fuel) and fighters (fuel tanks or the weapons).

Therefore... isn't it possible to divert the focal point where all the lasers are headed and create a scattering effect, creating a method that allows the heating process to be slowed down? That's the idea behind it. It scatters all the energy around so that it can create delay the thermal laser's destructive path just a little bit. Using that and internal cooling agent, there should be a chance to prevent the thermal laser from destroying the objects in efficient amount of time.



I leave the discussion to you! I'll be the guilt party and answer all questions. I'll also post a vote if I get a chance... please help!!!

1: As a former SoC and perhaps the most unbiased of the lot (concerning this in any case), I approve of the first invention for the purpose of UAV launching and retrieval. However, as I stated on IRC and will state again here, using a submersible aircraft carrier (SAC) to launch fighter aircraft inflicts severe penalties upon the SAC.

Firing UAVs from the torpedo tube is possible and would be a good use for the SAC, but fighter aircraft cannot be launched in such a way. Good for espionage. Not so much for offensive striking. Are there armed UAVs? Yes. I won't pitch a fit over armed UAVs, although keep in mind that launching anything from a torpedo tube or a vertical ICBM tube would limit you size-wise.

UAV launcher = Approved
Fighter launcher = Not approved unless you include an external runway, which imposes severe limitations.



2: Interest concept. I'll have to think about this one.

Thanks, Isis. For IAS, I'll try to make sure that I'll get a better proof than my logical sense.

Meanwhile, I understand that actual fighter planes with pilots would be difficult to place for submerged platforms. It would be so difficult to do so... especially for the pilot's safety. Given that the torpedo launcher would be used underwater, the pilots will go through severe de-pressuring as the fighter gains enough speed to take flight. That is... not going to be possible for the pilots to live. I think that for the modern tech, UAVS would be the best suited for the job.

In terms of size... I think UAVS are small enough for the chute that I am planning. Of course, I won't be using the regular chutes. I am thinking either using the ones similar to ICBM launchers (vertically placed upwards) or larger-sized opening torpedo chute, so that the planes can be launched and be able to get on air as soon as possible. Once I get the UAVS to do what they need to do (most likely surprise attacks or quick boost of reinforcement), I think that the UAVS will be needed to be retrieved and be re-loaded to the submerged platform with the help of smaller submarine variations... similar to unmanned underwater drones that is used for research of seas. I think that the submerged aircraft carriers will have these drones come out and retrieve the planes after the mission to be loaded back into the submarine itself.



Actually... I can see the confusion... When I usually say "fighters," I usually mean the unmanned vehicles, not the actual fighter jet planes that need to be manned by personnels. Hopefully that solves some problems.

My two cents on the submerged fighter UAV is that it is cool, quite possible, but difficult. I imagine that any UAV with duties beyond reconnaissance would be hard-pressed to carry much of anything. I can imagine a submerged UAV (SUAV) could carry a few Griffin missiles, but definitely not a whole load of hellfires.

I think it's a cool idea which should be approved.

I also think Osc's time devotion is remarkable. Perhaps we can split the SoC's duties to save his sanity, what little is left? Isis is as competent as before. Perhaps Isis could be the Lieutenant SoC? (LISOC?) Osc would be able to override Isis's decisions, but Isis would have total authority over Osc's RP and Osc would have total authority over Isis's RP.

As far as your claim is concerned, EEE, I think it is well-put. However, Oscalantine's submarines are far from being the size goes, the largest ones (stealth subs) are approximately the size of [Typhoon Class Sub], which means that several... I'm guessing in tens... of UAVS can be loaded. If the entire system is automated save for repairman, pilots, a few crewmen, and commander, the entire size of the ship can be further used for ships. Therefore, harboring, launching, and reloading UAVS with purpose of fighters can be established (especially since these UAVS can be launched from awkward pressures and angles where human pilots would've died trying).

As for the unmanned submarine vehicle (USV), they should be used to guard this sub along with the duties of retrieving the UAVS once they hit the air, in which case they are retrieved and placed back into the carrier itself. The loading speed will be RIDICULOUSLY slow, though, since a few planes can be loaded at once very slowly contrary to planes taking off, which could probably be done within a surprise margin. In a solo mission, these planes probably would be better served by self-destructing to major installations (cost of that won't be cheap, but it is better to toss in a few pawns to save a queen). In the case of war when this happens, the UAVS can take off from the sub for a surprise bolster of army strength, and then restocked and flown again from the normal carriers, where things can be done much quicker. The submarine carriers would most likely serve a quick bolster of troops into the situation or a surprise bombing run... all of which would put fear into the battlefield, since few fighters can quickly grow tens in size in the matter of moments, or the stronghold that was thought to be safe was quickly downed by enemy suicide UAVS. Sub carriers are more of a psychological weapon of choice than the actual efficiency itself... but having one or two... or I guess with all my traditional supersubs, three... would far outweigh the cost of installing fear into the battlefield.A weapon is truly a magnificent weapon if you NEVER need to use it, and that will be the case for this... unless you want to match Oscal in the sea, then don't say that I did not warn ya.

Well, since Ras and several people are busy with life, I'm using this oppourtunity to write in some news for Oscalantine... meaning that I want to see if I should add this in or not... any criticisms and yay or nay would be appriciated... so I'm bumping this up... help?

Meh... as soon as Isis says alright, I'm going to roll with it... unless Ras decides to drop by and say a few things, then I'll have to convince him... and if that doesn't work, I guess I gotta scrap the idea.

I have no qualms saying that supersonic jets are allowed in the Rp without SoC approval, since the tech has been in the modern world for a good time. There was also a commercial supersonic jet for awhile now, so I say that you may have it. How will you deal with the fuel-cost efficiency? You decide.

As for EEE...

yes, jets contain hundreds of inventions. But if you want to group it all, you may, but I'll be just as tough with it even if you have grouped it all together as I would've when individual inventions are suggested.


As a general note...

This thread is for those iffy inventions... like nano technology or rail guns. Both of them are currently not here, but the modern world is closer and closer to being able to produce them. You can get those patented here... since it is iffy-modern technology. You can always ask things that are currently already in the works... like laser-guidance missiles or supersonic jets if you are unsure, but for the most part I have to say that every country have a capacity to make those.
